Does something like the above exist?
I definitely prefer the 28mm focal length to any other I've found, and I am in love with the leaf shutters, nothing else does it for me these days.

Also, being compact is a consideration as well. The widest leaf shutter fast lens camera I've got is my Konica Auto S3, but I would like to go wider and potentially keep the format of this kind of camera if possible, don't wanna lug something heavy with me.

Am I searching for unicorns here, not gonna happen?

I could always go Minolta CLE plus 28mm lens, but I am wondering what else is there, if anything, that has an actual leaf shutter.

Thanks for reading guys. Cheers!

There’s a scale focus camera called Kowa SW that comes up now and then. I haven’t used one, but it might meet your criteria.

Never heard of Kowa before, wow that is a nice looking camera right there. Apparently super rare and expensive when you do find it. I don't think I am going to pursue it. But really nice knowing that something like this does exist!

Yeah... canonet is out too.

I don't think such a beast exists, I'd be all over it, too.
The Retina IIIS requires an external finder, but yes it does have a RF coupled 28 and leaf shutter.
If you want to go to a larger camera, there's the Fuji GSW 690.

Canonet 28, though by all accounts I've read the lens is unremarkable.

That's a 40mm lens. The 28 stands for max aperture of f2.8 not for the focal length.

Kowa SW and XA4 are both scale focus cameras - though at 28mm, that isn't much of a problem.

If you're willing to go a little narrower to 35mm, the original XA ticks all of your boxes, especially compactness.

A Vivitar Slim and Wide has a 2 element, 21mm f 8 (or thereabouts) fixed focus lens with a single speed shutter.
Hey, fulfills the leaf shutter requirement and will slip into a shirt pocket and weights about 4 oz with a roll of film installed.

the leaf shutter is the thing because of the design of the lens... the Zeiss (Contarex) Hologon is 15mm f8 fixed focus. For your money, a voigtlander Bessa T or M (Cosina) with 25/21/18/16/12/10 is probably the best

If you consider larger formats, Fuji GS645W or GF670W/Bessa IIIW or Makina W67 might be worth looking at. I don’t know of a 35mm fixed lens RF that wide with leaf shutter.

Please. If you're going medium format and you're going wide, go Veriwide!

And speaking of premium AF compacts with a 28mm lens, also the Minolta TC-1.

Yes, great lens. Although the TC-1 I had was very loud when turning it on and also when focusing.

The Contax TVS is another option for 28mm. Lens isn't quite as good as the TC-1 but quieter in operation. Also has an electronic rangefinder built in if you don't want to rely on the AF. Plus it zooms if you get bored with the wider view :).
