Wider lens on a limited budget?

Im pleased to say i had a very nice phone call today. MY mum had found the rest of her Fathers leica equipment being a Summicron 35 f2 Canadian version and a Elmarit 90 f2.8. I dont know of the condition yet since my parents are a few hours away but apparently in there containers and boxed.
Lets just say im very happy i didnt jump in and buy anything last week :)

sell the 3.5
buy the color skopar 2.5

wow! magic!! you're still with 750$ in you pocket :D

(about 35mm: anything wider will require an external VF...)

Im after a new lens for my M4. Im on a very limited budget at the moment and inherriated the M4 with a 50mm f2 and a 50mm f3.5. I have sold of my Canon 60D that i would commonly use with a 17-40 F4. The sale of the gear has left me with enough money to Get a CLA on both the M4 and lenses and leaving me with about $750.

So with the remaining $750 i was considering one of the following lenses as a fill in for 12 months or so until i can afford something better.

Voigtlander 21mm F4 with the 21-25 finder
Voigtlander 35mm f1.4
Voigtlander 40mm f1.4 with the 40mm viewfinder

So if you were on a limited budget like myself what would you go for?

I have been looking at the color skopar 21mm f4 for a while. It is a very good lens in my opinion. Should be a good complement to your 50mm lens.

i'd say voigtlander 21/4, ultron 35/1.7, canon 35/2 or if you want to go extreme, a 15/4.5. its extremely wide and complements well a 50. the 21 would complement well too.

maybe a 35 would be the best bet, just keep both as normals, leaving home with only one according to the place where you'll be shooting at. no changing lenses = no hassle

I shoot 21mm 30% of the time and 35mm 70% of the time. I do have some nice nikkors that are longer I just rarely reach for them.

Bittersweet news, of course, but what a lovely souvenir to have of your grandfather.

Now would be the time to look at a 21...

Cheers,

R.

Yeah, perhaps the 21/4.5 zeiss. When you go out, bring only the 21/50 combo or the 35/90 combo, depending on where you're planning on going. Voila!
