I`m totally new to Leicas, this is the deal:
I bought an used M6 without a lens because I ran out of money... I ordered an M39 to M mount adaptor, and hope to be able to use it with my old Industar 61. Will it work ???

Yes, it should work fine as long as the adapther brings up 50mm framelines.

The adaptor is the "Fotodiox Leica M39 to Leica M lens adapter" bought on ebay. Don`t know about the framelines, but thank you for answering so quickly.

It should mention in the description what frameline an adapter brings up

If the adapter brings up the wrong frame lines, you'll need to use the selector when composing and shooting.

Well it worked, kind of...

I got the adaptor today, mounted the lens, and fired away. Forgot about framelines, and got prints full of one-eyed people, and people without ears. The exposures seems spot on, sharpness is better than I`d imagine, but framelines....
I`ve checked, and no framelines appear when I mount the lens. I have to order a new one, but what kind of lens is my adaptor made for ? It only says "m39 to M" on the box. Any idea, anyone ?

Strange that it doesnt bring up anything, it has to ? Buy a good one from Fedka or Camera quest according to your lens focal length to avoid more dissapointment

If some people are one-eyed and others have ears cut off, you're using the entire V/F to compose -- much wider than the field of view of your Industar. You'd best get a proper adapter and sell or give this one to someone who uses a CV Bessa. I am surprised that Fotodiox, who are well known and well regarded, should sell an M adapter without saying which frame lines it brings up.

I followed your advice, and used the selector when I framed the two photos I`ve posted. Thank you for letting me know. I`m new to this, you know...
I can`t complain, the seller didn`t promise framelines, they just didn`t tell me they wouldn`t show...
So I got a new idea; buy a jupiter 12, use this adaptor (because the framelines I see must be 35mm, right ?), and get a new adaptor for my Industar.
Will that work ????

Yeah it should work, being 0.85 the widest you could go is 35 i think, still it's weird because I've never heard of an adapter that only bring up the 35 frameline
