良かったね!
Knowing as well as anyone how the economy is, I wonder why Leica couldn't wait a bit longer to release its big ticket item. I have to suspect that with the development cycle on track, they're already so committed to this product's immediate return on investment that they had to plow onward despite the dwindling market. Good luck, Leica.

Only 18 megapixels? I was expecting 24 mp for that price!
I'll keep bugging Zeiss and Voigtlander for a full-frame M-mount. Are you listening, Panasonic?

If I had the money to spare I would seriously consider replacing all my 35mm cameras with an M9 (assuming it's actually a release-quality camera) and a something along the lines of a Pentax K200D.

That was my line of thinking. I ended up with an M8 and a Pentax K10D. But then my K10D was stolen from my car. So I purchased a Panasonic DMC-L1. The only thing I ever use an SLR for is sports, food reviews, product shots, and events where I really just don't care enough to take pretty pictures. I just set the flash and turn on autofocus and let the camera do the work.
98% of the time I use the M8.

scratch my niche
I bought the M8 new, at a great discount, three years after its first release. It will take at least that long if not longer before I could contemplate a used M9. By that time, somebody else might come out with a less expensive alternative.
I like the M8 very much; my only real gripes are that poor high ISO performance, as well as the occcasional flare induced by the filters..

Cash for clunkers.

Based on the great start Leica had with the M8, I would say no. Unless of course we could get a cash for clunkers allowance.

the cheapest digital ever was the 5Dmk2 at 2700I would buy the M9 for $2000 CDN.
I know that is completely unrealistic but that's what it would be worth to me.
I'm sure others' mileage will vary!
this leica would be worth 3500 at least to me

is there anybody who doesn't know that? at the $7K level and the fact that it's a Leica, come on now, even Canon at this level is up to that count.
