Would you buy M9 right away if the price is $6,999 - $7,500?

I can't, since I have put my money tied on my lenses and M6 TTL Titanium + 50mm summicron Titan.

I want to enjoy my M8.2 until the M9 gets fully tested and the prices drops 1/3. 🙂

I find myself more investing on lens than digital camera body. It's not the same as film body.
 
It depends on whether I want to stay married or not... 😉

Anyway, I'm happy w/ the two film M's I have now (M3 DS, M6 TTL .85), and don't really need any more cameras. I should probably sell some more of what I have already now!

If it were $5k, yes I'd buy the first units.

At $6k, I'd wait a few months.

At $7k. I'll wait a year. At $8k. I'll wait until they offered the M9.2.

I have my M8. With upgrades. And it works wonderfully. There's no pivotal reason for me to run out and purchase the M9. I have every focal length I need. And I have IR filters for all my lenses. In fact it would probably be a bad idea for me to grab the M9 until I've upgraded the Hard Drive in my computer to at least 1TB, or made an investment into backup drives.
 
I already have the Nikon D700, which is the digital body I wanted, I'll take a pass and go to Europe with my wife and son instead. The way we travel, an M9 would give us about a month in Germany, with a number of excursions around Nuremberg and beyond.

Of course, I'll travel with my film Leicas. 🙂
 
Nope. That $7k is enough for a several month vacation. 5 weeks in Brazil cost me about $1000 (not including airfare) and 5 weeks in europe was about the same (without airfare). I think I'd much rather enjoy a whole summer in South America than I would a m9.

If cost were no object I'd take an m9, however.
 
If I had $7,500, I'd buy a new(er) car.

So far, the most expensive I've ever bought was my Leica CL, and that was $500 or so.

Call me when the RD1/M8/M9 hit $1,000, and I'll buy one then.

BTW, has the Canon 5D dropped under $1,000 yet...

😉

(Seriously, I hope they sell bucketloads of M9's to those who want them. I'm just too broke to buy expensive toys without the ability to depreciate them as business expenses).
 
where i live:

USD 8000 = food supply for a family of 5 for One year.

the sight of that gray steel finish m9 makes my heart skip a beat but its too much money to spend on a hobby. it would haunt me.

i'll keep shooting film and CV 🙂
 
no, i wouldn't. i'm happy with my m8, and i would figure its resale value is heading down. while i don't see an m9 in my near future, it sounds like an astounding camera.
 
Sure I'll buy one. I've bought art that was far more than that and the M9 is both beauty and function. Besides it's cheap compared to digital MF gear. "Budget the luxuries first"

Instead of spending the money I'll just hire someone. They can update their Leicas every year or so.

If it doesn't work out I'll just fire them. Good fiscal sense to me.
