I don't see the comparison between the fuji and any of the other makes you mention...except that they all use film.
 
Again...I'm not seeing how that makes a high price mandatory for a Fuji folder. It's not going to be an Arca Swiss or Sinar in capability and almost certainly not in build either.
I think a Mamiya 7 is a better guide to how much the market might bear for a Fuji 6x7 folder. Give the fuji points for portability and take away points for versitility.

I'd get one in that price range, but not much higher. I don't *need* one, and I'm sure very few people -- pros or amateurs -- really do either. But it sure looks nice and within its limitations (fixed lens, mainly) would doubtless make good photos.

I think it takes some guts to put out a new medium format rangefinder. Especially after the Bronica 645 fiasco (great camera, but no commitment from Tamron). I often wonder what 120 film sales are like now, as this was the choice of professionals before digital, medium format film sales must have declined dramatically. On the other hand, I keep hearing rumours that some pros are returning to film, at least on a part time basis.

This estimate is second-hand Leica + lens money, you can get two good condition Rolleiflexes for that, or a Bronica 6x6 with several lenses, a Hasselblad with glass.....

The second hand leica won't shoot 120 film and the bronica 6x6 is slightly less compact.

It's all down to what you value.
 
Hmm, I've reconsidered my earlier opinion that already owning a Rolleiflex 2.8F and SL66, it's be hard to justify another MF camera. After using medium format, 35mm, even with really nice equipment just doesn't feel so good in comparison.

A folding camera would make MF really easy to carry around, and in this sense it would have a niche compared to second hand stuff like Rolleiflexes or Hasselblads.

I would imagine it's a pretty small niche sales wise, but thinking about the second hand values of comparable modern cameras - the Makina Plaubel 67/etc. and the Fuji GS645 folder - which are really quite high considering the amount of problems they appear to have there's definitely a market out there.

But if I get one of these GF670's, everything else goes.

I am not making the mistake i did with keeping all three wives, even in different towns. The gas prices are too high now, and it was a lot of trouble. Especially toward the end.

Stretching the format to the maximum a Nikon ED8000/9000 scanner can cope with would be my choice. I have a Bessa I that goes up to 88 mm frame length so the scan is cropped and I have a Kodak Monitor that fits within. 6x7 or 6x9 doesn't tell me much in practice, the actual difference is less than two centimeter usually.

What may be more important is the overlap on the 60 mm width, for a film more plane I wouldn't mind if they cropped that width to 50 mm. A bit like the Alpa special backs. I can always make a mask to reduce flare in the Nikon. Or Fuji could have a good look at the Koni-Omega backs that clamped the film very good and had a fast transport.

That's exciting news. I checked out the magazine website for more info, but I don't read Japanese. I tried the Fuji Japan website, but I don't read Japanese. I tried the Fuji USA and Canada sites, but there's nothing.

Does anyone have a link to a Fuji website that describes this camera? It seems that everyone except Fuji is announcing this camera...
 
There is no mention of the Fuji MF RF in either the on line table of contents nor on the few pages available for reading...
The table of contents does however mention a review of the new Cosina Zeiss C Biogon 35/2.8

I've been shooting recently with a Hasselblad that a friend loaned to me. First time using MF. What an eye-opener! I'm definitely "in" on this Fuji! (black, please).

The latest edition, June 2008, has a brief mentioin of the new Fuji on page 26 of the magazine. It's more a non-mention than a mention, but the image we've been bandying about is there. 😀
 
I'm interested and I think its a great idea. I can get some great images out of my Rolleicord, but my process is too slow to sling it all over town with me. I'd love to shoot with the speed/ease of AE and the compactness offered by a folder. Let's see some specs, Fuji!
 
I've previously posted how excited I am about this camera. What I wanted to add is that I spent a weekend in Vermont this past weekend, and carried two cameras with me everywhere: a Minox 35 GTE and a Zeiss Ikon 520 6x4.5 mf folder. Both fit in my pockets, although the Ikon largely displaced my wallet from its usual spot. Having mf quality in a portable design is worth a lot. My biggest fear is price. Surely Fuji won't price it less than their used cams are selling for on Ebay, but if it's much more than a cool grand it will definitely curb my enthusiasm.

Nothing wrong with my GW690 which can hammer nails and double as a surfboard. Maybe if the new one gets FM radio...
