Thanks for posting the picture. There's also a nice 3.5cm f/1.8 just in front of it, with what seems the original front and back lens cap. Would I be correct to estimate the value of the 3.5cm at approximately $ 595 at the current exchange rate?

It sure is a nice sight to see several Nikon RF items for sale in a shop, something that is totally impossible to find in Spain. Only through private sales have I been able to locate something.

I have visited Tokyo in 1990, seems like ages ago now. Only then I wasn't interested in Nikon RF, if I had been I'd probably have used up all credit on my Visa card. 😀 Which areas can good shops be found in?

Those caps aren't the originals. The rear cap is a Hansa aluminium cap and the front cap is a 43mm Nikon cap, not the 48mm original. There's a nice 3.5cm f/1.8 for the same price just to the left outside the photo with the original caps. You got the exchange rate right 😉

There's certainly a nice range of Nikon RF gear available in the shops here 🙂 In the next cabinet there's about a dozen Nikon RF bodies and about the same amount of lenses, and in the cabinet below that one there's two complete Olympic S3 sets 😱

There's lots of shops around Tokyo, but the biggest concentration is in the Shinjuku and Ginza areas of Tokyo. Dangerous places to shop, though. Your credit card could easily hit its limit 😀

A 43mm cap on the 3.5cm? Strange, haven't tried it, although I guess it could work. The front lens element is not that close to the 43mm filter ring that it might interfere with the lens cap.

My 3.5cm didn't come with any caps, but I did find a solution that may not be ideal, but it works ok for me, until I can locate an orginal front cap at a good price (wishful thinking, of course). I managed to locate a 48-49mm step up ring. On the 49mm end I then screw a filter cap. It looks weird but it protects my lens and it's almost as quick to remove as the original cap would.

I gave up trying to locate a rear cap and bought a no brand replica. Works fine and does its job. The lens hood is equally difficult to locate and extremely expensive in good shape, but again I'm trying to work my way around it.

I've been to Shinjuku and Ginza, actually bought a 105mm Micro for the Nikon SLRs that I still use. It is one of my favourite lenses and it cost about half than what I would have paid in a shop in Europe. A dangerous place it sure is.

I have a 43mm cap on my 3.5cm f1.8 and it works fine. I actually prefer it to the 48mm cap because it doesn't catch on my bag or clothes etc. as much 🙂
