I can now count myself as a double G owner after having bought a G2 yesterday to go with my G1. Hoping to get out soon to see how it handles.

Yeah, it's kind of fun having two Gs in your bag. Since I also have a Leica M6(digital, what digital?), I now have the Gs with 28 & 90 attached, the M6 has the 50. Fun, fun, fun.

Kuuvy, that's my setup - A G2 and G1. I keep the G1 body loaded with b&w film and the G2 with color transparency. Have fun!

Well I gues it is time for me to speak up. I received my first G1 just two days ago. Notice I said first? Just dropped the first film off today. Can't wait to see the results. Having been a Nikon user for years it is an absolute gas to be able to carry the G and all three lens in a small bag. My F5 body weighs more than the G and all of the lens combined. I am also impressed with the feel of the G. It feels like it was built to last. It will be very hard for me to justify luging all that gear around from now on. I think I will go shopping for a G2 and a 21mm.😀

Yeah, I hear you on that. 🙁 That's why it was my first G-system lens; the others were easier to justify then! Keep in mind though it's way less than the nearest equivalent Leica Elmarit 21...

Yeah - it seems they are in the $500 range for the 21's - I paid that for the mint black one I got recently. But what a lens...
I've played with the 16mm and it is tooooooo cool.
Does anyone know if the 16 lens was produced in "black" versions as well as titanium? The owner of this one didn't know, and with such a small amount of lens barrel protruding from the body it was hard to tell if the silver was actually a "finish" or simply the design of the lens.

Does anyone know if you can still get the upgrade for the G1? I am reluctant to buy a 21mm or a 35mm if the mod is no longer available. 😕 I also got my first roll from the G1 back today. Man am I impressed. The pictures weren't of anything special but wow are they ever sharp. It took the Velvia to a whole new level. It is going to be very hard for me to drag the old F5 out from now on.🙄

I don't know if this is the right place but I wanted to post a photo from my first roll through the G1. The scan does not do the lens justice. I am amazed at to sharpness and the color. This is Velvia 100 so I expected it to be eye catching but this is more than I expected. 😀

WOW a Minty BLACK 21mm in the 500 range I have seen black 21mm's go for 800+ in minty shape. You really got a deal! Especially if it came with the leather box case for the finder and the lens!

Flipflop - I was pretty excited - it was a like new lens with all the original goodies still in the packaging. I bought it as part of a complete black G2 system and the price was definitely good.
Now if I could just find a 16mm for about $600 😀

should i give in? a brand new chrome G2 is selling for $1500 here in the philippines with the 28, 45 and 90 and flash. and to be paid over six months, no interest. i do own a leica m6 with 35, 50 summicrons and tele-elmarit 90. and i hesitantly plan to sell my bessa r with 50 nokton. G2 with M6 seems a good combination. it is a bad case of gas attack!!!

The G2 and M6 combo is very hard to beat. The 3 Zeiss lenses are second to none, and adding that to the M6, you've got the best of all worlds. I've got 2 G2s, added the M6 recently, and love the fact that I can fit it all into a Domke F-803 satchel. I'd go for it.

Soemtimes auto everything comes in handy, I wouldn't have got this shot with a full manual camera.
