sound dust
Newbie
I'm covering my bases, I've preordered at DCW and Vanbar and I'll wait and see which comes in first. I ordered of DCW first however Vanbar seem to have the connections as they have had a batch come and go.

So the launch has been done and dusted. Went well, had a few X100's floating around for all to fondle. Christian Fletcher has had one for a few weeks, lots of large prints of his time with it were scattered around the place. Really REALLY nice images, all printed from jpeg's.
Word from the Fuji rep's was that more are expected later this month, but they couldn't guarantee shipment dates.

Apologies, but which launch are we talking about here?
I'm still waiting to hear from DCW (4th on pre-order list) and as yet all they can tell us they have no idea when they will get X100s

Can't read - probably don't deserve an X100

The best camera is one that still works!
It's ironic ... geographically Perth is one of the most remote cities on the planet!

Well Keith if these guys *might* get some late this month maybe DCW *might* get some too. It'd be nice - but I'm not holding my breath

I think its funny that there is a launch, but nobody nationally has got a camera. Seems like a select bunch of pros got all the stock and the general public are left, waiting, waiting and waiting. Launch, you've got to be kidding.

Im part of the 'general public' and definitely not a pro, just extremely lucky by the sounds of it!
I have no doubt that Fuji Australia would've loved to have a few camera's to sell at the launch. Everyone was excited about it, getting to actually see one and have a play with it. I didn't notice anyone walking around with their bottom lip on the floor complaining 'launch, you've got to be kidding' though. I think they were all adults and understood the unfortunate recent events and the impact its having on delivery on these camera's.

Hmm don't want to get into any natural disaster debates, it is a tragedy, and i'm certainly not trying to upset anyone, however I was no 6 on the list, still waiting, and looking at the better part of mid to late May before I perhaps get my hands on it. Let's just call is a pre launch shall we.

I saw one at Foto Riesel in Sydney.
A few people were waiting to have a go.
Managed to play around with it for a short while and it was interesting... but I guess I needed more time to really appreciate it

I'd love to get one now, but can't quite justify the extra expense to import one via Amazon or eBay. So I'll just sit here patiently and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait.

I amuse myself during this interminable wait by visualising myself using the camera. Yesterday I was shooting it in manual mode ... reading the light by eye and setting the aperture and shutter speed as I would my Leica M2.
Sigh!

Damn... sounds like fujifilm is going to have start sending out medication to x100 pre-order customers in the mean time!
But seriously that sucks that they haven't come through yet... do you have any idea on how long it will be from now?

Well Fujifilm got into pharmaceuticals a while ago so maybe they can slip me a few valium in the post!
If I get one before mid May I'll be surprised!
