X70 with pics

I wonder if Fuji Canada will lower the price down too from 899.
The Camera Store confirmed to me earlier this afternoon that it is indeed CAD$899.
Have a black one pre-ordered, cant wait.

well, I was initially very very excited for the X70 (last time I was this excited for a new camera was when they announced the Fuji X100S) but after getting this reply from FujiGuys, I have lost interest until they rectify this issue.

hi Fuji Guys, can you shoot the X70 with the rear-screen turned off and just using the aux viewfinder?

+Earl D Hi Earl. Great question! Initially, that is not an option. However, it is being considered for future operational updating.

Your face or nose can accidentally touch the screen (move AF points, take shots), also when looking through the OVF you can get distracted or blinded from the screen.
I might still play with a demo version first to see how it works at this point

I think you can turn off the touch screen...just not the LCD.

correct but unfortunately that might be a deal breaker for me, the light coming from the screen when looking through the OVF might be distracting, especially when shooting in a low light location.

that's one thing I liked about the GR, I would pre-configure the settings then turn off the rear screen and off shooting I went.

but hopefully Fuji does something about it, or even just make the screen go all black like the Sony a7.

It may work like my xe2: the rear display panel switches off when you look through the eyepiece.

There have been cameras in the past, but for life of me, I can't remember which ones in specific..that when the LCD is placed in the protected mode (LCD is facing into body) it automatically turns off the LCD. I think my old Sony r1 might have done this..

unfortunately the Fuji X70 does not have an eyepiece or sensor as it will rely only on the Fuji and other party 28mm aux viewfinders.
so the X70 will never know if you're looking through the viewfinder or the rear screen unlike the other X series cameras.

definitely the old digicam with tiltable LCD screens, I'm thinking Canon G series

The lcd doesn't turn to face in to the body though.

I'm definitely curious, because I love 28mm, the old Fuji Super Mini 28mm lens was great, people produce great stuff with the X series, so it's a contender.

I feel like Ricoh have dominated this market for so long because their product is incredible, and when even Nikon come unstuck against them, it's a bold move for Fuji.

One of the reasons the GR is so good is that it leaves a bunch of stuff out. I'm already seeing stuff I don't need or want on the Fuji (touch and tilt screen are a no from me, I realise I can switch the touch off).

I think it's going to be a case of working out what if anything in the specs might go beyond the GR for how I use it rather than getting caught up in it being pretty and a new product.

I definitely need to see examples of it in use, and need to see that this super fast AF isn't having the delay on stopping down that I've read about on the X100 series.

All the G-series Lumix micro-4/3 do this. They were the original mirrorless cameras with swivel screens.

The Fuji X10 can turn off the LCD using the display button, and it doesn't have an EVF or eye sensor either. I would expect the X70 to have this feature too. All my Lumix G-series cameras do this too.

It has an OVF though...that is the difference. The X70 is an LCD camera, so they most likely thought turning the LCD off wouldn't be a great idea. However, Fuji has made an external OVF for the camera, so I would imagine they will implement this in a firmware update once the OVF is available.
