I just ran a roll of film through my xpan and when the film advanced after firing the shutter, the camera made this really loud squeaking sound.
Has anyone else experienced this before?

Mine never did that. Sounds expensive!

Could it be the film is not threaded right? I would open the back and see. That roll is probably a goner anyway.
Good luck

Any idea that it might be the film canister?
The Xpan winds the entire film out of the canister before shooting. Did it squeak then?
If it only squeaks after the shutter firing, then it is rewinding the film back into the canister, one frame at a time.

At first I thought it was the film canister, but I placed a new roll of film in, and it did it again, not as loud, but was still there...

Not trying to dissuade you from sending the camera in, but, is the film pressure plate absolutely clean? Does it only squeak with some films?
Does the film takeup squeak if you turn it with your fingers?
I'm guessing that the wind motor, on the left side of the camera (looking at the camera back, with the back open), needs lubricating.
Good luck with it

Mine started doing this 2 months ago, thought it was the film canister, but it continued on the next roll. Then I thought it was the cold weather, but half way through the roll the camera stopped working. When you press the shutter all the lights light up in the viewfinder and on the back LCD everything goes on, but it won't take a picture. I haven't sent it in yet as I'm short on cash but I am worried it is a significant repair. Sorry I can't be of more help but I would highly suggest you get it looked at before it fails completely like mine..
