YOUR best non-leica digital 50mm equivalent kit

Ricoh GXR with M Mount A12; Zeiss Biogon ZM35/2

Not quite the same as a Planar or Sonnar on film (and I presume on digital M) but excellent none the less. No anti-alias filter, in-camera correction for vignetting and colour shift - but I've never felt the need to use it. M lens support is fantastic.

While the GXR is modular I only use it with the GXR Mount A12; might as well super glue it together. Ricoh is the only *current* manufacturer of digital cameras specifically designed for M lenses other than Leica.

Still ... I lust for full frame digital to get back the look I remember....

NEX-5N w/ EVF + Sigma 30mm f/2.8 as of now.

As soon as the new Sony 35mm f/1.8 NEX E-mount lens comes out, that will be my 50mm equivalent kit alongside the same NEX-5N.

Never got on with the GXR with a 35mm lens on it - but like it with a 21mm.
The OM-D on the other hand is superb with the 25mm 25/1.4 but not great with the 17mm.

Olympus E-PM1 with Panasonic 25mm f/1.4 DG-Summilux. Small, light, fast-focussing, great EVF, and a gorgeous lens (with, it must be said, a comically oversized hood).

And cheap. With three little monsters roaming the house, cheap is good.

I think it would be very hard to go past an RD-1 with a 35mm f1.2 Nokton.

well, i only used the 1.2 nokton on the m9, and despite of its beautiful rendering, i sold it for being toooooooo heavvvyyyyyyy. but i can imagine it must be simply WOW (on the R-D1).

Put a 35L on pretty much any Canon APS-C body and you have a nice digital 50mm equivalent kit, 35mm F-2 and Sigma 30mm F 1.4 are also nice budget options.

I went with the Sigma 30mm as I found it to be what fit best for my needs and budget.

25mm Summilux with micro 4/3 camera (I use two Panasonics).

I also liked the big huge 25mm Summilux that I used to have for my 4/3 camera (Leica Digilux 3). However, the m4/3 version is wonderful and is not such a monster.

This and other great lenses are what keep me using the m4/3 format.

The combination I use all the time is outside the rules (being FF) but it's an original Canon 5D (the "mkI") and EF 50mm/f1.2 lens.

I have used, with some success, a Canon APS-C body (30D or 50D) along with the EF 35mm/f2 (56mm eFOV) and the EF 24mm/f2.8 (45mm eFOV). But I hardly use those combinations since I bought the 5D and 50/1.2, which seem to work perfectly together:

Wish I could afford the Fujinon 35 \1.4 but I'm using an old Leica 3.5 cm screw mount. I love the new software and it makes a great 52.5 mm. The new 3x magnification îs great .
