Similar to the above post had a BP MP it was very nice but ended up selling that and kept the black paint M2 (painted by me). I feel now if I am going to shoot film seriously I would rather use an SLR and if I want to use an M for film I want to go old school!
I would probably go fo a black paint M4 with a nice 35mm summicron or a Summilux.

Everytime I open the black bag and see the beautiful mistress (the green M3) sitting there naked (no lens), I start dreaming about a dream kit.
M3? MP? M6? M7?
I got the dream M body (M3) but lust for a BP MP. So, my mind wanders toward speed. Yes, I am a speed junkie. Nothing but a Lux will do anymore. I think a 50 Lux in chrome and a 90 Cron would do just about everything I need in a lens as a match for the M3.
Alternatively, a black paint MP and the same lenses in black would do just fine.
Now, having said all of that, film and processing would need to be addressed as I really am getting tired of the lab results. So, part of my kit will be doing my own film processing and scanning. Working on a film-for-life scheme and I have most of what I need to develop black and white but not C41.
What would you folks recommend for developing C41 and which is the best scanner for 35mm negative film, slides and 120?
I have my 'dream' film M kit, it's a part of my 'dream' total kit:
- M4-2 + Color Skopar 35/2.5
- CL + M-Rokkor 40/2
- M9 + Nokton 50/1.5 ASPH (ltm)
- GXR+M-mount camera unit + Nokton 40/1.4 MC
with additional lens options:
- Color-Skopar 21/4, 28/3.5 (ltm), 50/2.5 (ltm)
- Ultron 28/2
- M-Rokkor 90/4
- Hektor 135/4.5
- Skink pinhole kit
I tend to pair the bodies with those lenses as standard most of the time, while the other lenses swap around as desired. Of course, I can use any of the lenses on any of the bodies when I want to.
For film processing, I have the local camera shop do all the C41 negative processing. I do all the standard B&W films at home on the countertop. I have a Nikon Coolscan V ED and SuperCoolscan 9000 ED. The latter is extremely versatile but a bit pricey. VueScan drives them both very nicely.

processed in Lightroom 4.4RC.

this is interesting. film gas lust vs one camera/one lens as posed in another thread this week.
gas wet dream... original bp m4 (which i still regret not buying two or three years ago) + nocti.
less insane... bp mp a la carte (m4 rewind) and a 50 lux. dragging a nocti around every day is not a good idea.
closer to reality... bp m6/7 + asph 50 cron or zm 50/1.5. light, modern, reliable.
frankencamera... m5 finder/meter shoved into a bp m4. lol.
choices get very complicated as we get away from 50mm

An MP3 would be very nice, probably in black to go with a 0.95 Noctilux

MP 0.58x + 35 Cron FLE
M3 + 90 APO-Cron
Noctilux 0.95 in the bag
This would just about do me for a life-long street photography kit.

A black M4-P, black MR-4, black 35 f/1.2 & 50 f/1.1 Noktons, and a black Summicron 90. And I'm fortunate, 'cause that's just what I have.

Chrome a la carte M7 with no markings, vulcanite, 21 Ssummilux, 35 Summicron and 50 Summilux ASPHs. And what the hell, the full kit 90 Macro Elmar.

I'd buy back my black MP3 and have the new 50 Cron parked on the front.

I already have part of my dream M kit: a beautiful, recovered and smooth as silk button rewind M2. And since getting a beautiful and smooth as silk M4-2, I've stopped lusting after other Leica Ms. I might get a late model M3 some day or a BP M4-P (for the 28 framelines), but I no longer dream about either of these M bodies. I'm pretty happy with my current Ms.
So what would be the dream lens to go with these two dream cameras? For me, it would be a Zeiss C-Sonnar 50/1.5. I continue to be amazed by the photos I see from this lens, and I would love to have a modern sonnar to complement my Canon 50/1.5.
Other lenses I would like to own (maybe not quite dream lenses): a late serial number Summitar, and a CV 40/1.4. The C-Sonnar, however, is the dream lens.

As a curve ball, I would really like a matt black chrome MP ( a la MM ) with 24mm x 24mm reduced negative gate size ( and 1:1 VF lines ) along with a wide 6mm gap between frame ( easier to print with rebate ) and x0.52 magnification ( 21mm square coverage ).

Hah! Another square head!
My Robot Star 50 is off being overhauled. When it gets back it will have a Schneider 30mm lens semi-permanently fitted to the 24x24 format.
Looking forward to that!

Nice Donald! I like the square gate, cool idea.
