I chose "other" because I like street and urban portraiture, as well as street and urban photography. I'm sure that's a genre, but hasn't been categorized as such other than "street". I take lots of shots indoors that aren't "street", but are "urban".

So... "other".

My favourite genres are portrait/street, but I shoot exclusively "nature" (macro, landscape) and some still life. Really should start doing it the other way around....

Street, particularly those that show some element of isolation or alone-ness in otherwise crowded cities.

for example:

I've noticed quite a lot of good photographers in this genre from Japan. Don't know if that is a consequence of culture, city-dwelling or just random coincidence. Partly culture I think, as NY photogs tend to give off a crowded, as opposed to the isolated sense of Japanese photographers.

I love documentary and portraits especially. Mostly I love just taking pictures for picture-taking's sake. But if I can document something in the process, bonus! Sometimes that means I'm on the streets, but not necessarily. There's change all around, it's just figuring out what to show, and how.

Thanks for the poll!

I love (to borrow a term from the TimeLife photography library,) ``the human condition'' photography (i.e. ``life, as the camera sees it''); I'd say, its a subset of street photography.

I chose landscape as it's closest - from traditional to urban/industrial landscapes. It's usually more the area I'm interested in than the specific individuals who might be in the shot so I don't consider my urban work to be street shooting.
