I left Cambridge UK after 2.5 years there. I always walked past St John College every morning and this is one of my most fav shots i made near its entrance, also in my last month in the city:

For me, easily the photo below. It combines my influences and styles (street, Kertész, surrealism) in the strongest way so far. I'm hoping to continue in this direction.

I like the atmosphere. I took this photo a week ago during my break from University work, and it felt good to plan a photo shoot and to be ready for it. The camera was set to AUTO, and no PS was used. It looked this way. I was reminded of times when I had more free times for photo shoots in remote areas by myself.

Not technically a good shot but my favourite of this year. During our visit to Canada in July, we saw three black bears on different occasions. This was the closest encounter. I have learnt over the years, to not beat myself up at failing to get a good shot of a wild animal. To see an animal like this (from the safety of our car) was a real treat!

Love it! Yes, not a National Geographic shot by any means, but your posts exemplifies what's great about photography as a hobby. It's about what the shot means to you, and I'm sure that if I had witnessed such a scene and managed to capture it on film, I would be pretty fond of the image as well.

Most of 2016 I didn't even pick up a camera. Fall of this year I was preparing to load a roll of film into my Canon AE-1P my wife gave me years ago & the shutter jammed & mirror locked up. Heard something in the camera snap. Fortunately 2 months prior my son found an AE-1 Program & gave it to me. Amazing he picked this camera because he knows nothing about camera's.

So I loaded up the newly acquired AE-1P with Pan F50, 35mm lens & walked one of my favorite places, Old Salem. This is my favorite of 2016. In the midst of death life overshadows.

This is my favorite because it exemplifies a lot of what I've learned about taking pictures here on RFF. The most important thing is, you have to have a camera with you in order to take pictures. Next is you have to be ready for anything to happen in an instant, or the moment is lost.

For me it is this one. It is all my favorite and most cherished things, my 3 dogs and my wife. When people refer to their wife as their "better half" I would have to say she is my better 90%. And the dogs, they make life that much better and then some. Taken on a trip to Maine to see my parents.

I don't know that this is necessarily my favorite, but due to recent events, it is one of the more memorable.

This was shot at a Trump For President rally in downtown Fort Worth, Texas, back in February of 2016. After I took the photo, I chatted with the young man for a few minutes. I told him that I had been shooting political events and protests since the late '60's. He asked me if I thought Trump had a chance at winning the presidency. I responded that there was no way the American people would elect this buffoon.

Every day I wake up to this Orwellian nightmare....

Nothing rangefinder about it, but this is my favourite of the past year:

I love the little eastern spinebills, and I'd not previously been able to get a decent photo of this feeding behaviour (which they usually sustain for only a second or so at a time).

This is one of my favorites from 2016. It was first time out with the Leica Standard, to see if I could be "invisible" shooting street people. In front of a music venue, a Screamo-metal show, waiting for the doors to open, and this guy was pissed that I took a picture of him.
