Your favourite photo of 2017 (taken by you), and why

I guess this is my current favorite for 2017 although that can, and probably will, change as I sort through my photos.

This was taken during a sudden blizzard that hit the Ruby Mountains in September. I love going into the mountains when its snowing. Sometimes I get stuck but that is what friends and winches are for. I returned from this trip with several keepers but this is the print that has stayed on my wall for the past 3 months.

This time I carried my Zeiss Ikon Contarex equipped with the Bllitz Planar 50/2, one of my favorite lenses. I don't get this camera out as often as I should because it almost always gives me images that I like. I used Ilford HP5+, a film I am becoming very fond of the more I use it. I souped it in some D-23 for about 9 minutes.

fits the criteria of may not be my Best but certainly one of MY Fav's . Simply love the Composition ... lines , arches,zig zags

What an iconic moment is that. The dude, whose face we can't quite see, is a very lucky fellow! Either he will be reminiscently looking back on as a turnkey of his life, or lamenting the passing of a possibility never realized future, that we (and he) does not yet know ....

I think for me this was one of my favorite moments, and it also happened to be quite recent.

2017 was a year of big change for me as I got married and switched from being a freelance designer to a salaried one. My wife and I took a trip this Christmas up to Yosemite and as we were hiking through the valley we kept seeing so many tourists doing silly poses on things and to have a good laugh my wife hopped up on this fallen tree. It brings a smile to my face because it's a newly created happy memory.

In April, 2017, I was travelling with some friends for few days in Guatemala, then we split as they went on to see another city and I stayed in lake Atitlan. I finally felt free to take photos as it had not always been possible before.

This photo of a local boy reminded me of the feelings of freedom and joy.

After having had Farah put to sleep in 2014, we decided to have another Dutch Shepherd after my retirement in August last year. Please meet Newton. He is 4 months old in the photo and very surprised with that white stuff falling out of the sky.

This is my preferred photo of 2017 :

Last summer my wife and me have been invited to take part in a collective exhibition including different kinds of art, painting, drawing, photography, sculpure and others.

The theme was "A dream in your drawer" and I decided for a set up including all what I liked and still like to do, I love photography and drawing, reading books and traveling, even my wife is in a couple of pictures in it...

it's my dream...on go many !

She deserves a medal for all the love, effort and self-sacrifice she has put in to caring for and supporting our girls.

Sad to say that I don't really take as many photos as I used to on a day-to-day basis, whether it's a matter of too many commitments, my mobility issues or just a general lack of interest. However, my wife and I do make it a point to get out of the continental US once or twice a year, so by default, my favorite photo of the year--any year--would come from one of those trips.

I took this on our trip to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward late in the spring. I like it because it is one more occasion that wife and I spent together just by ourselves and because this photo captures the peace and serenity of the Maritimes.

I think this one, from February of 17. I love the light, and the textures. No specific moment or memory involved other than a desire to capture it as I saw it.
