Understandable. If I had an 8 and a 9 I might feel the same way.
1.5x crop is like being a second class citizen. Sony says: we shall overcome. Hoooray!!!!

This is a no-brainer cam for my Leica M glass..
Will get the A7r at the end of the year or in 2014..after a few lens reviews come out..

If one already owns a good selection of FF glass. If one has to upgrade crop-only lenses to full-frame lenses, then I can't really see this upgrade as very desirable.

Considering adapters and many SLR lenses are just dirt cheap, like 20 bucks for perfectly good 50 or 35, 20 for the adapter, then you would have to really really love AF not to be tempted.
and funny enough, my fav AF lens, the aps-c sel1018, DOES cover the FF from 12 up at 5.6 or smaller.

I shoot lots of corporate events, etc., as part of my income. Lugging around a Canon 5Dll for hours on end with 2 or 3 lenses, spare batteries, a flash, extra CF cards, gets mighty tiring pretty fast. I develop wrist pain from its weight after an hour or two. I sometimes have to wear a wrist brace to ease the pain. Looking at the size and weight of the Sony, well, it seems mighty tempting. I used to think SLRs were large. dSLRs are ridiculous!

Actually both a Konica and Minolta heritage.. since Minolta bought Konica prior to Sony buy.
The question really becomes how much of that heritage is retained via the employees from those two companies that are still around which can influence the product decisions.
I know from experience (went thru a couple of bigger company buying smaller one merges), very little maybe retained, but that was here in the US vs Japan.

I have some interest.. But a lot depends on what Fuji does next and how well my old rf lenses will work. The form factor is not an issue for me. FF is not a gotta have or me as well..

Nope. In Asia the old guys hang around forever. I suspect we won't see a lessening of Minolta's influence on Sony until most of their engineers pass away...
It is noteworthy that many of Minolta's former employees left for Sigma. The main optics design force of modern day Sony, however, is very likely still Minolta people. Most G lenses today are just Minolta design outfitted with new motors and improved coatings 😀

The new Sony is interesting...to read about. Most new cameras are interesting to read about. But I already own a Leica M9 and it seems to work just fine with rangefinder glass so I have no need to buy a Sony that we believe will work with RF glass. Besides, Leicas are supposed to last almost forever. One year and 3K clicks; I am barely getting started. This one should last me at least 20 years. 🙂

I can c that in their dslr line, but the Nex line really felt more like Sony product managers were in control... And the engineers were just doing what those guys wanted.

As sad as it is, a significant portion of a professional photographer's value is from appearances. Some clients are just reassured by a photographer with a massive amount of gear around their neck/shoulders.

They are ugly cameras (IMO) but otherwise quite good.
I'm not interested (close to zero interest) because I've got to stop buying gear and I'm so not interested in another new lens mount. Having a NEX 5N, I have realized I have little interest in "legacy"/adapted lenses so that's not a selling point for me thought I realize it's quite exciting for many.

I'm not allowed to say anything negative about the (amazing) a7/a7r because my nephew is the guy plugging them in the U.S. Sony promotional video that came out a day or so ago (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Pkp6dNHDdDM).
