I understand that in this week's Am.Photographer, there will be a review of the Zorki range of cameras, written by Ivor Mantanle. He did one on Feds sometime ago,and his articles are usually well worth the read.

Brian.

Got my copy on Saturday (subsciptions do have small benefits). A very interesting read. Ivor is pretty good although he was a bit off with the early Pentax's a while back.

You beat me to it Brian.
Fred gets his on Saturday!!!! We are lucky to sometimes get it on Tuesdays, normally its Wednesdays up here, I think the Pony Express gets lost after it leaves the M6!!!

Since I live across the pond from you I don't have access to this mag.
What's his take on the Zorkis??

Not a bad article, but strange, he shows a picture of a Zorki 11 but no mention of it or the Zorki 10 in the article. Interesting comments on the Jupiter8 though, could stir up a stink with some of the Leica crowd!!

i think the esteemed ED. of AP would be a bit unhappy if we did this. We have several thousand members here and I am sure he would prefer to sell us a copy and the article is current and copyrighted in any case.

I enjoyed it though - especially the part about the Jupiter 8.

Did he try some J-3s, especially the ZOMZ(Zagorskii)version? I heard that this J-3 is particularly good.

Oldtimer Cameras on www.oldtimercameras.com offer all of these Amateur Photographer Reviews and articles by Ivor Mantanle. You can either buy a download or a paper copy.I did so a few months ago for an article on Kiev Rangefinders. How soon the Zorki article will become available is another question.

Brian.

I don't like to think how many J8's we put in the bin when I worked in a camera shop in the 80's. No one wanted them! I saved a few mint ones which I have since passed on to friends who like them a lot.
Only lenses mentioned in the article apart from the collapsible Industars, were the Orion15,Jupiters 8,9 11 and 12. Didn't mention the Russar either.

Interesting to read in the article, that the KMZ trapezoidal logo, was nicknamed the 'Tomb',by the Factory's workforce.
It seems that workplace humour is the same the world over.Which I find sort of reassuring!:)

I still haven't checked this out. I'll hunt you down Tony and grab your copy at some point :p
