I just bought an SQ6:




One thing I’ve discovered, which gives the Neo 90 a real advantage, is how the lighten/darken controls are implemented. On the Neo 90, lighten/lighten+/darken is totally independent of the focus range setting. On the SQ6, Fuji has chosen to make lighten/darken one of the choices of “modes” and by default it applies to the intermediate focus range. If you select macro or landscape, you can’t lighten or darken. This among a few other things makes the Neo 90 a more controllable camera. Even so, the SQ6 gives the photographer a good bit of control (at least compared to most Instax cameras) and produces that nice larger print.

It was mine too, not the one I swapped though. I bought it a few years ago just to have on a shelf but felt bad as someone could be using it.

It’s common for red filters to have a +3 stop adjustment, so I wouldn’t expect this filter to differ much. The 2.5 to 3 stops mentioned reflects what may need to be adjusted based on trial-and-error experience (as mentioned above) related to the film you’re using (its latitude and how it’s developed) plus your subject matter. Given all that, I think it’s much better to overexpose B&W a bit (the +3 stops rather than +2.5) than underexpose it.

I'm sure you're right, Pal, but I thoroughly disapprove of their plan to completely confuse me with their unusual markings on my cineamex red filter. I have a sneaky suspicion that it's the only red filter they marked in this way.



I recently bought a Walz B30 Yellow Y2 filter to replace a damaged Rollei middle Yellow -1,5, but it turned out to be a bit too pale so I bought another Rollei middle Yellow -1,5. It is identical to the first except for one thing - it is lighter than the one I already had. So now I'm having to get another, but this time I'll have to get one from a seller that has several and ask them if one is darker than the others and then cross my fingers that the one I get is as dark as I want it.

The W-Nikkor 35/2.5 on my Nikonos V has produced spectacular results. Definitely a very sharp lens.

Nikonos do seem to get pretty beaten up. I downloaded a repair manual but it's more of a parts list, it doesn't explain how to remove the top cover. Looks difficult so I don't think I'll try. But the viewfinder is almost unusable.

Had been available from Canon USA earlier in 2022, but when I went back to order a couple of weeks ago, the miniature camera, cool tote bags and t-shirts were no longer listed, so I had to buy my mini Hansa Canon from a HK eBay seller. Outer carton arrived looking worse for wear, and there's a tiny crack in the clear plastic case, but OTOH, even with overseas shipping, I got mine at a considerable discount.

The Pentax FA 75mm 2.8 turned out to have a stripped gear in it's AF so it went back.

Put a very lowball bid on a user R8....

First roll is in it now. Viewfinder is very clear and high contrast, and the focusing screen pops. Magnification is lower than the SL/SL2 or R4 but with the 60mm on it both eye open shooting works well. Extremely smooth film advance and rewind. I can see why it was divisive, but it is quite the camera with some features I haven't seen before in camera. For example, you can manually meter any flash TTL to check exposure before actually taking the shot.

That's right, it's a display piece, but it has modest play value: Knobs can be turned, lens can be collapsed and has a simulated iris.

Got this FM body for a song. Needs some work. It is a really nice and well-made M42 camera with auto diaphragm and a split screen focusing aid.

A Yashica D, new old stock, completely mint. It's a late model with 4-element Yashinon viewing and taking lenses. Woo-hoo!

Weston Master IV. In original box, with matching serial number and chunky (£9/18/6) price tag. Complete with instructions and guarantee card. As it’s not reading all that accurately, maybe I should put in a claim.

Canon Powershot G11. Not really RFF material, but might make a good leave-in-the backpack camera. Original list price (according to t’internet) £569, mine for £75. Quite possibly unused- came in box, with software CD and cables still in sealed bags, and pages on instruction booklet sticking together as if never opened.

I bought 3 copies of Target sampler TGT002, a 7" flexidisc which comes in a paper fold-over sleeve. I bought it for the track called "Under the Summer" by a group that at the time was called Monoland and who changed their name to Sapphire, but only released a 7" 3 track EP (TGT 004) on the label "Target records". There are groups on youtube called 'Monoland' and 'Sapphire', but they're not linked to the one on the sampler.

I bough a Rollie bayonet 1 Yellow, which is a tiny bit lighter than the damaged Rollei Yellow for which it is a replacement.

I bought a Rollei bayonet 1 Orange filter, which is rather dark, and makes me wonder why Rollei's Green filters are so pale.

I’m a glutton for punishment I suppose - I just added a second Hasselblad 1000f to the stable. This one comes from the estate of Lennart Nilsson, who was one of Sweden’s first ‘modern’ photojournalists and the first recipient of the Hasselblad Prize in 1980 (Ansel Adams was awarded it in 1981, HCB in 1982). He was also known for his photos of the human embryo. He has quite the biography! I’ll post a photo of the camera once it arrives.
