Leica to announce a new M-mount M6 film camera in Oct 2022

All this talk about price. Strange.
It costs the same as a M4 in 1975 cost of stuff terms. A year or so of take away lattes in Oz, less in US, less than a used motorcycle ... so what’s the problem? It’ll be a great investment in enjoyment for anyone who buys it. Just think of all the great used and also new 7A etc lenses out there!
Bravo Leica!

I only see a surposition of two film models in a niche market... they are not digital.
If the 500 units thing it's not true, I can't understand the move.
Or maybe they stopped production of the black MP...

From what I understand, some third parties that made MP parts have gone out of business. Leica has started making some of these parts themselves, which is how the M6 was made. It remains to be seen if they do the same for the MP. It appears it is a new model and not limited edition. If you looked around the internet, you would have seen that the M6 is a very popular model used and has gone up a lot over the last few years. Leica knows exactly what it is doing. Leicas whole business is nostalgia. They were selling every MP and M-A they could make. I do not know why you think they cannot sell 3 film cameras that will not be made in huge volume.

1,000 lattes in a year?

Looks like Leica is open to accepting applications to become a supplier for components and sub-assemblies.

I found this an interesting read:

When I read limited supply, I was not interested. Seeing actual camera body, I did re-think! It's great! The beauty of simplicity. The utter joy of a small body. A few weeks ago, I was shown a new mirrorless contraption. 130 f.p,s ! Holy dudu! I said shown, as was too heavy for me to hold. I'm 78. My M6TTL purchased 2000, is now 22 years old! A joy to use! Only a few times RF flare, easily solved with finger. So smooth now. My mechanical M's have captured Rodeos, Weddings, Celebrations and street photography. I've never needed a film winder, much less a drive 120fps! Film is no longer cheap. Truthfully It was always a cost. Bravo Leica!

yes, you are right, afterall every new film M is a limited edition camera, due to the volumes.
