Down the rabbit hole!I have had two tries at getting an EC-TL. The first was sold as a EC-TL but what was delivered was just an EC and it turned out the helicoid also had a problem in that the tab for stopping down the lens was broken. It did have a nice split image focus screen in it though.
This is the second attempt and it was bundled with lenses and a second helicoid.
Clearly a EC-TL and the meter lights up but it is extremely non-linear. It goes from over to underexposure with minimal changes. Thanks to Jimmy Koh I have the calibration procedure. It is complex as you adjust the electronics of the meter itself and then the shutter LED display is adjusted independently. I *think* I can try to calibrate the meter by using my shutter tester and measuring the shutter timing in 'Auto' mode while calibrating the electronics of the meter. That is roughly what it sounds like the factory tester for the EC-TL did. I need to verify shutter timing first though. This is all assuming the meter is just badly out of calibration and doesn't have a failed component in it.
If that doesn't work I can return it all. Was interested in this bundle for the 100mm but the 75 PC I might hang onto as well. Already have the 50mm though.
No hate here. I also have a Pentax DSLR, in my case, a K50 that I use with various Takumar, K-Mount Pentax lenses and my trusty Vivitar Series-1 70-210mm ƒ3.5 zoom lens. My old lenses perform beautifully on the K50, and it is my camera of choice for shooting color pictures. It makes for a VERY good digital rig, for MY needs. I tend to use it with all of the automation turned off, using a hand held incident meter to determine exposure. For black and white though, I like to use film.Dear Board,
Please don't hate me! I only bought this because I had great success shooting with a recently acquired Spotmatic F and several Super Takumars that I also collected.
With that combination I've managed to shoot and process 2 rolls of film, something I hadn't done in over 40 years!
So, I found a used Pentax K-3II with a grip and manuals. Knowing that the Super Takumars I like are easy to adapt to Pentax K and knowing that the camera features in-body stabilization I decided why not?

I'm in continual oscillation between the K-1 Mark I and Mark II and cannot make a decision; as long as this continues, my wallet is safe.
I went with the Mk II, but only because I got a good deal, and preferred the new purchase for the warranty. For what it's worth, I think the sensor pre-processing for noise reduction does a good job without reducing detail. My impression is that the two versions don't have markedly different IQ, but there might be a call for slightly different RAW processing between the two.
