What have you just BOUGHT?

This week I bought a 34mm screw-in metal ens hood, which as I'd suspected from the photo in the listing wasn't actually "matt" on the inside so I painted it was some humbrol "matt black", and it is now a bit shinier than it was before, lol. So now I'm going to have to find some actual matt black paint.

I bought a 34mm spacer ring to make the above lens hood a bit deeper.

I bought a Yashica B30 Yellow-green filter and a Yashica B30 82A filter, with the intention of removing the glass and using the frames(?) as rollei bayonet 1 - 34mm "adapter" rings. It took about 30 minutes to get the retaining ring out of the Y-G filter using the lens spanner the seller had lent me, which I hadn't expected, and at about 20 minutes into the job I wasn't too sure I was appreciating it as the ring seemed to keep going back into its thread. The 82A's retaining ring came out within 30 seconds, lol.

Now I have 2 adapter rings, a lens hood, lens cap and the set of 34mm thread filters that were for my Canon Demi S which suddenly grew a lot of fungus in the viewfinder to use on my Rolleiflex SL26's 40mm lens.
 
In the past couple of weeks, I bought (and was gifted by another Kodak Retina RF enthusiast) a few more accessory bits for the Retina IIc/IIIc cameras:

- Kodak Retina Close Up Kit Model B
- Kodak Retina Close Range and View Finder Kit Model B
- Kodak Camera Platform Model B
- Kodak Schneider 35mm f/4 accessory lens in bubble case (still in transit, due Wednesday)
- Kodak Schneider 35mm f/4 accessory lens hood
- Kodak Compartment Case for 50mm Lens component
- Kodak Schneider 80mm f/4 accessory lens in late bubble case with lens hood (I thought this was just the case, turned out to be a complete lens and case assembly ... for $25 or so!)

My cabinet overflows with delightful 1950s Kodak Retina goodies! 😀
Many thanks to my benefactor and to the folks on Ebay offering this equipment!

I've finished the roll of P33 I was shooting in the Vito II ... I'll try to process that today, see if I made any worthwhile photos for posting, and then load up the Retina IIIc-x with a roll of HP5 and experiment with all this good stuff. I'm particularly eager to learn the various close up accessories ...

Dear Board,

I tried for a while to get a Canon 7sZ from Japan, but I always got outbid on eBay.

With a price limit in mind, I looked at a Voigtlander Bessa-R. I saved it to consider overnight. When I woke up, I had a discount offer from the seller, so I figured, no time like the present, and bought it.

It arrived today and seems to be in excellent condition as described by the seller. Here is a shot with it paired with a Canon 35mm f2.8 I bought a couple of weeks ago, again from eBay.

Mark, what you do is none of my business but my policy is to never sell any of my GFX gear, especially lenses. Redundancy in focal lengths is not such a terrible thing, not nearly as bad as selling a GF lens and then later realizing it was a mistake and trying to buy another one back. They're just so damn expensive for do-overs.

Just my unsolicited 2-cents. I'm sure whatever you do will be the best thing for you.

I have been trying to find an SF-26 TTL flash for the Q3 43. Leica, bless their dark hearts, no longer makes this flash. But they do make one that works at about twice the price. Milesci found one on eBay and let me know and now it is on it's way from Ohio to the shores of the Columbia River. It's not a big flash but will work fine for close in and fill-in, what I wanted it for.

Picked up a like new Tamrac Pro 12 bag as I needed/wanted a bigger bag for video gear.

It is built for 2 Pro DSLRs with lenses attached but I took out half of those dividers.

On the left is a S1H in a cage with a Sirui 35mm anamorphic lens attached, follow focus and monitor with battery installed on the cage. The left side grip is in the outside pocket which mounts the mic. Have a right grip in there too but I don't use that one as much.

S1R on the right side and the lenses in the middle are the Panasonic 24-105 and the Sigma 35mm f1.2. If I used smaller primes I could easily fit four in those two spots. If I leave a lens attached on the S1R it won't hold extra lenses. If I leave the second body out I could probably put another 4 lenses there. Outside pockets have tons of room for batteries, filters and whatever else I need.

this seems to me very "flat"

I'm going on a trip to the Lake District in a couple of weeks so I am going to test drive the 20-35 then before deciding on what to do with the 30mm. The 30mm is a lot lighter and easier to carry than the zoom. Since I got the GFX I have hardly touched any of my other cameras so maybe I should hang on to the lens.

Well, there's Musou Black, which I haven't tried, and Culturehustle's "Blackest Black" though I must have the original version 1.0 of the latter. They recommend spraying for best results, but when brushed, the Culturehustle paint gave me a deep gray very similar to the factory black used by camera makers in mirror boxes and the like, before they switched to flock and other materials.
 
Found two vintage lenses in great shape to play with the K5IIs:
An early Vivitar 300mm 5.6 preset lens. It is T mount and has an 18 blade aperture. I am using a Pentax K T-adapter, but also have an M42 version. There is some confusion who made this for Vivitar but it has a 6XXXXX serial number.
A Vivitar Series 1 70-210 f3.5. Macro focusing zoom. This is the second version that is lighter and only does 4:1 macro. It has a fixed PK mount.
I am quite pleased with the images these have made and they were very inexpensive.

Alpsman, Thanks for the info. I've just done a quick 'bay search and the the postage from Italy is over £16. Being a bit of cheapskate, I'll put it on my list, but not quite at the top, yet.

Jeffs7444, Thanks for the info. The Musou black seems to be a little more delicate in durability than I'd like, but the blackest black website has now stopped showing up. I'll do a 'bay search later.

Well - yes - the ITALERI color is also about 16€ for me. It contains 20ml.
The Europe dealer for Musou black is in Vienna / Austria, and it is also not cheap. For 100 ml including shipment etc it costs 39€
In a fit of madness I ordered this Musou black.
I will report back if it really is that black.

It is acrylic paint.
From my experience with water based acrylic paint it does not dissolve again when it becomes wet. The ITALERI paint I use is also water based acrylic paint.
You can use water as a thinner, you can wash the brushes with water - until it dries - then it is to late.
The whole life is try and error ;-)
