What have you just BOUGHT?

Something utterly and completely NOT camera related: An Axil 320 SPARCstation 20 clone from 1995, 2 "High Speed" Ross Technologies 147mhz 1mb cache processors for it and a solid state hard drive replacement. I'll max it out to a whole 512mb RAM too. Should be a fun way to take my mind off the real world for a couple of hours a day. Paid too much but that's not unusual for hobby toys ;)

I'm planning to run SunOS 4.1.4 and back port the new version of the open source version of Medley Interlisp to it. Better for my liver than whiskey ;) Pity Photoshop 3 needs Solaris rather than SunOS

I placed a pre-order with Freestyle for the ADOX 110 Syrup film developer.
In addition I ordered a bottle of ADOX Rodinal.

From MPEX 2 rolls Tri-X 135-24, 1 roll 135-36;
2 rolls FP4+ 135-24, 1 roll 135-36

Well, it took me several months to finally taking the plunge. I've sold some "Leica stuff" to refinance my brand new Q3 43. And it feels quite good. 💪

Good luck with it. It is sort of the Swiss Army Knife of cameras. Good lens, good sensor, good software/firmware and easy to use. And small enough to shlep around with you all the time. Let's see what you have shot!

Thx, I am really looking forward to making photos with it. And yes, Swiss Army Knife is exactly what it is. But I'd add, the lens is, well, incredible, not just in terms of optics, but in price, too. You get a fantastic camera attached to this lens.

Yeah, you pay for the lens and Leica throws in the camera. Start shooting!

Alpsman, Thanks for the info. I've just done a quick 'bay search and the the postage from Italy is over £16. Being a bit of cheapskate, I'll put it on my list, but not quite at the top, yet.

Jeffs7444, Thanks for the info. The Musou black seems to be a little more delicate in durability than I'd like, but the blackest black website has now stopped showing up. I'll do a 'bay search later.
The Musou black paint arrived.
Of course I have to try it out immediately.

The first pix is a 3D-printed hood which was painted first with the ITALERI flat black.
The "grey" black is the Italeri paint, the deep dark flat black is the Musou

The second pix is a original Nikon hood with the original Nikon paint. The dark black is the Mosou black.

I did not make a scientific test, nor did I try out the scratch resistant.
But it can clearly be seen how black the Mosou black is.
Interesting, that the Italeri flat black is nearly exact the same black than the Nikon black. In the pix it seems to be different, but in reality there is no different.

Why did I do this to me?
Now I have to paint all my lens hoods :-(

Well I certainly hope I had something to do with it, Mwahahahahaha :devilish:

Anyway, thanks for posting the results. How "unshiny" is the Italeri paint? All I need it for is to umm, "de-shine" some of the cheap, modern, metal lens hoods I have. I'm not absolutely sure they have be as black as the Musuo paint as well as being "matt".

Dear Board,

I have to stop eventually, and this might be my last purchase for a while. ;)

I read some fairly positive reviews of the Vivitar 3800N and decided that for the price of 2 rolls of B&W film plus shipping I had to at least give the camera a try. It arrived from Goodwill in perfect condition and fully operational except for the exposure counter. It counts the frames but sometimes depending on how I am holding the camera the counter digits disappear. But the meter is spot on, and the finder is clear, clean, and bright.

It's probably the nicest plastic camera I own. I have a roll of film in it, and I am actually looking forward to see what comes out of it with the native Vivitar lens. If I want to try other focal lengths, I have a few Pentax K mount lenses and more than a few Tamron Adaptall 2 lenses to use with it.

Regards,

Tim Murphy

Arrived today to my door, an SF-26 flash found for sale on eBay with the help of s friend. It works TTL on the Q3 43 and regular on M bodies. I rarely use a flash but for fill-in they are nice. It is a quite nice flash for the Q3 and, you gotta love 'em, discontinued by the folks at Leica in favor of more expensive flash attachments.
