What have you just BOUGHT?

A Rollei 35S from Filmfurbish. Looking forward to scale focusing and pre-setting for a different experience.

I just got my first Rollei 35. (Tessar model) I haven’t developed film yet so I don’t know how accurate I’ve been guessing distance but I absolutely love shooting it. If pics turn out good it’s going to be one of my favorite cameras.

Bought a Tiffen deep yellow filter for the Pentax K-3 Monochrome. I'm quite happy with the tonal separation in the sky in my initial tests, and it cuts less total light than an orange filter. The camera seems to be shifting a half-stop, whereas I often felt like my orange filter was cutting two stops.

I mentioned in another post above that I went to a camera fair on the past weekend and bought a lovely P. Angeniueux 28mm f2.3. The other thing I bought was a more or less equally lovely Asahi Pentax Takumar 35mm f2.3. As it happens, I already have one of these lenses and have had for perhaps 20 years, maybe more. But its helicoid has always been very tight and requires significant cleaning, so it is nearly unusable and I have been putting the necessary expenditure for a service off for all this time. This has meant I have never really used it as I should have done, so finding one in good mechanical condition was serendipitous for me as I am keen to use it. And it at least saved me the cost of a service. 🙂

I do not, right now, have a photo of my specific lens, but I am sure many here will know of it. However, I have linked a review of this lens below, and the pictures in this review confirm how character-filled its images can be. I have also included another image from a different web page taken with this lens type - apparently the image was taken wide open where it exhibits a classic "glow" in the in-focus areas and intense bubble bokeh beyond. It's easy to see why this lens is admired by people like myself who enjoy more artistic and interesting rendering.

Incidentally this lens apparently used a lens design based on (or at least very similar to) a P. Angenieux retrofocus design (they had a 35mm f2.5 retrofocus lens).......................so this weekend has been something of an "Angenieux weekend".

I’ve wanted a Voigtlander Superb for a bit. I’ve been picky and wanted an earlier model with these big chrome ears for strap lugs. Got this one today. Couldn’t be more thrilled with the condition. Everything seems in proper working order. Even the case is in great condition considering its pushing 100 years old. IMG_9707.jpeg

Ooooooooh, I've just come over all unnecessary! That is in fabulous condition, especially compared to my Rolleiflex that looks as though its been in a tumble dryer with a couple of bricks.

I've a Brillant with the Skopar which I assume is an uncoated equivalent to the Color-Skopar as it's razor sharp stopped down a bit. I think you are going to get great results out of this!
