What have you just BOUGHT?

The Gossen Luna Pro SBC I acquired a week or three back came with the box, manuals, and the original Vari-Angle viewfinder. It works very nicely. I hunted up a MultiBeam Viewfinder attachment (which is ludicrous in how large and goofy it looks, but works beautifully) and was interested to see if I could find the Luna Pro SBC leather case ... Meter cases usually run for about $35-$40 from past experience, and I found a Luna Pro SBC listed with case "for parts" for $55. 'Eh, a little pricey, but it'll be nice to have the case,' I said to myself...

It showed up today. The leather case is in perfect shape. The meter ... hmm. No battery in it. I fitted a fresh 9v battery. Seems to be in perfect working order ... I tested it against the other LPSBC and it makes identical readings, in all modes and with both accessory finders.

Sometimes you get lucky...

Came this afternoon. Unannounced, FedEx did not notify that they left the package on my step. Unpacked, fussed with, firmware checked and on camera. It works! And it is very nice. In my minutes-long exposure I can see why many HB owners are saying it is so good that it replaces their HB primes. I'll be up and out early tomorrow to try it out. I do not enjoy night driving and do not want to present my insurance carrier with an excuse to drop me.

But here it is, the 35 - 100E zoom hanging off the front of the X2D II. I am pleased. You may have to suffer an explosion of images so be prepared.

It does have the Falcam cage on the camera body and strap, complimentary.

Very nice. What kind of camera is that?

Yep it's a Yi M1, a micro four-thirds foray from around 10 years ago. 20mp sensor, this one came with two lenses they made, a 45/1.8 and 12-40 zoom. Touch screen interface. Sort of like the Leica TL etc. Currently on 3.2 firmware which is the latest. Had some downloadable Master Guides to help you compose portrait-type photos (this mode superimposes a figure outline on the screen for you to get your model into), unfortunately this is no longer possible apparently due to updates to iOS and Android, and the fact that support ended a long time ago - but obviously was only a gimmick. There are a few preloaded.
Still, it works, it's very small and light, and it's fine for what I wanted - a casual and cheap camera for walks. It has timelapse too, which none of my others cameras do.

A variable diopter that threads into my film M eyepieces. I am skeptical of its utility value but we'll see. Worst case, it gets returned.
Are these things only for Leica cameras? It sounds like something I coud do with as it seems to me that my Nikon Fm2n and Nikon F301 have different basic diopters, and I haven't got access to a full set of diopter lenses for either camera. At present I'm having to use right angle finders for them, and even though they make the screen image and indicators sharp, they do make the cameras a little awkward to use. Any help would be much appreciated.

Anyway, this week I received a Nikon SB-26 flash (mainly for the rotating head and the slave capability) and an after-market book about it. The book isn't quite as clear as I'd like and there are a couple of misprints in it. It also mentions having to make calculations when using the flash in Manual mode, (this is not the impression I get from my SB-20 flash's manual) and it's a little confusing about Programmed TTL flash and Auto TTL flash. Let's hope the printed manual I've ordered helps on that score.
