An auction find - a Topcon RII. It's in pretty good condition for a 65 year old camera. Interestingly, it's almost exactly the same size and shape as a Praktica FX, and shares the position of the shutter release with the Praktica. The lens mount, though, is Exakta, although this camera has an internal diaphragm stop down.

Visited the Photographica Fair in Hilversum (NL) yesterday. Came home with these goodies;

Voigtlander Kontur viewfinder for 35mm
 
135 f/2.5 SMC Takumar with M42 adapter to M10M for just $100 (8-blade version got lucky ebay).
test = 1/250, f/4, iso 400 in light box from ~12 feet. cropped 1/4 full image.
a challenge to focus w/peaking & live close view but works w/fast speed hand held.L1000211 copy.jpg

… and, I just did the same again. Another Billingham bag. The last was a second hand Packington in khaki with very minimal signs of use. This time it’s a second hand 206 Presstop, also in khaki. Photos indicate it also exhibits minimal signs of use. I’ll know for certain when it arrives.

I do like some of these discontinued Billinghams, particularly in the classic khaki canvas. Form and long lasting function.

Edit - I just counted all the Billinghams I have. This will make 21. I am proud and ashamed in equal measure.

The Billingham 206 arrived. It looks all but completely unused. It can’t be less than 16 years old (they were discontinued in 2010). Obviously constructed from excellent materials, and beautifully made. Very pleased.

Those old Tocons are so well made, and their optics even better. In my journey of experimenting with the new and the different I once had a Topcon B set, but for me too different to keep. There used to be a chap out in California who repaired these cameras. He had worked at the Topcon factory. Enjoy the experience.
 
It was time to order paper and chems and while I was at it, I finally got around to getting replacement 8x10 trays. After 30+ years, mine are stained and gross no matter how I tried to clean them, so it was time.

Also got one of those variable diopters for Leica Ms which is being returned today. It obscured the full field a view. Worse still, it didn't actuall magnify or sharpen the view no matter how I adjusted it. Complete bust.
 
A close up attachment for my Nikon S 2 and 5 cm f/2 Nikkor lens. This isn't the Nikon version which seems to be hard to find and expensive when you do but the Pleasant knock off. I have one of these for my Zeiss Contessa that works pretty well so I will have to see what I get on film. This lens is the same filter thread as my Contax 50's for which I have a Contatest so I will try both close up lenses to compare. The viewfinder isn't exactly a joy with this--lots of image cutoff, but the focus seems accurate so I will
see what I will get.

This/Last week I bought a Nikon SC-11 pc cord, as part of my "Non-Nikon F301 camera flash kit", with hopes of setting up a "Nikon F301 Flash kit" with SC-17 cord and a "tripod socket to coldshoe adapter" which is a coldshoe foot which can screw into the bottom of the Flash end of the SC17. The height of it in the advert is 25mm which is a bit tall, but as it comes as a 2pc "kit" I'll experiment with hacksawing it down and then sanding the top of the thread. Luckily I laready have a "Hotshoe to coldshoe adatper with built-in a PC cord" which has a 1/4" thread in the coldshoe bit, (Nikon, Are You listening?) so I'll just screw it into that as a test before buying the SC-17.

Has anyone ever heard of "Duo-cord" flash cords? I've seen some old ones on ebay and they look like they were desinged for TTL flash use. it seems they were made for a wide vareity of Cameras from Minolta, Canon Nikon etc. and I've seen on for an N2000, though it's in the US and the ebay listing says the seller may not post to the UK. I don't think thye are a thing now, so I was wondering if they were no good or something?
