21 CV or 21 CV m, or 25 CV m

Dear forum guys;

I am now in the M club. I had a bessa R a while back, but sold it off, then a bunch on Nikon MF lenses on D80/D300, none quite gave me the shooting experience that I wanted. Next was a Contax G1 ( which is going to that big auction site soon ) and a Fuji 645 Range fineder. ( The Fuji Stays w/ D 300) So, I'm now kitting out the "new" M6, I got the 40mm 1.4 for my normal. On the d300, I use the 28 F2 as my normal, so about 42mm on film.

I'm deep in GAS, and already thinking about wide, from your experience would you suggest 21mm or 25, and is there a better value for $ out there than the CV. I know that Leica is better, but to my mind, not a better value.

I will be using the 25 as a general walk about lens, in mostly sunny conditions. I typically take images of my two very active little boys, and sometimes would like to shoot them!
It may get used for some indoor work.

For simplicities sake, I have been using Kodak iso 400 B&W C41 or Fuji 160 NPH in the Contax, I have a quantity of that film, and will not be changing that any time soon.

25 is easier to work with than 21, generally, for most people.

the cv 25 is a good lens, especially for the price.
the zm 25 is a superb lens but much more money.

i like the 21 fov but if i had to choose only one i would go with a 25.

They are all really good lenses. It really depends on what POV you want. The 25P CV is a wonderful little gem.

If you go with the CV 21, get the older version and an adapter. It comes with a viewfinder and has the same glass as the new M mount 21.

If you have, or are planning on getting a 28mm lens, choose the 21 over the 25, which would be too close to the 28.

Based on the info, and thinking about the differences on my D300, I went for the 25, luckily, there was one in the classifieds at a good price. On the D300, I use my 18-200VR at 18-20 for most of my wides, or 27-30 in 35mm terms. I almost never use my my 14-24 at 14, sometimes, but just not that often. Combine the advice and the facts, 25mm it is!

Good choice - I would said 25 as well. I used to have both a CV 21 and a ZM 25. The 21 FL just didn't suit me, so I sold it here on RFF (Jan - having fun with it yet?) I kept the ZM 25 - it is a superb lens.
