These are not computers, there is no way of knowing if Cosina will come out with a new one, or if it will be as good as this one. My worst fear is that it will be "different", since optically this lens is as good as it gets to my eyes.
Someone will make money on these lenses. I tell you, the moment they're sold out, they will pop up in the classifieds here with prices higher than what we are seeing now and some tearful story from the would be sellers, telling us how much they're gonna miss it. We've seen this with Leica lenses, but also M-Hexanon's and other manufacturers. Hell, that tearful seller could easily be me: I flipped a Zeiss Ikon I paid 300 Euros for, made the easiest 500 Euros in my life. I'm not even gonna pretend to be one of the innocent guys.
Even though I own this lens in both chrome and black, it's sad to see it leave the production lines. That, and the fact that the information on it being discounted had to come from a member with only a handful of posts. This member gave those of you without this lens a heads up.
I can only speculate why the information about the discontinuation of such a popular lens didn't come directly from a dealer...
