I purchased a 35/1.2 this summer. I love the lens because I can easily shoot ISO 400 film in low light.

Now I am considering the 50/1.1. My main 50mm lens is a vintage 50/1.4 Sonnar but I also have slower and more compact lenses.

I'm specifically interested in using the 50/1.1 for low-light. I know that it isn't the most popular lens, but I don't mind the size or the focus shift because this is my special purpose lens. I know some people don't like anything that CV puts out but for those that have/had the 35/1.2 and like the lens, how does the 50/1.1 compare?

My experience with the 1.1 is that the bokeh is a bit rough, but from a bang-for-buck perspective it is a nice lens. The Konica 50mm F1.2 I think is a better lens, but prices have gone up a lot in these years - looks more like a collectable these days.

It is a wonderful lens, great for portraits.

I also feel the 50/1.1 is underrated by many.

Both at f/1.1

to me, it's only real downside is weight and size.

I also have the 35/1.2 v1, which I use even more often, but which often needs more attention PP for WB than the 50. I use the 35 more often on the M9 because it has more DOF wide open.

But I find bokeh is fine and the 50/1.1 is a strong lens at any aperture.

However the color palette and general "look" of the two is quite different, with the 1.1 being more "zeissy", while the 35/1.2 is a blend of modern and old school:

nice and sharp on the FP, though.

How about the ms optical 1.1? Seems to have more character then the voigtlander and can adjust for focus shift.

I believe that lens is much more expensive? I also thought it was technically worse? Not sure. I haven't looked into this lens too much to be honest.
