A few weeks ago I tried out an M 262 from LensRental.com, who were great to deal with, by the way. I had been eyeing a 262 for some time, and I thoroughly enjoyed using the camera for the time it was in my possession. As an older fellow with older eyes, I wondered how well I could see to focus the 262, and I was pleased to find it as easy to focus as my Zeiss ZI. Also nice was how my ZM and CV lenses worked with the camera. I did learn something to watch for--the shutter-speed and exposure compensation controls can get reset inadvertently if I'm not careful. All in all though, it seemed the perfect camera for me. So, now I have on order through PopFlash (thank you, Alex, for a smooth and pleasant transaction) a brand new Leica M Typ 262, which should arrive on Monday. I look forward to many years of fun with it. Much lurking and reading about the experiences of other RFFers with various digital M cameras made what for me was a very expensive purchase a little less stressful, so to all, thank you for sharing your wisdom.

Hope you love it as some of us profess to love ours, or just sloppily amateurishly love their filmic ethos--shoot now, engage the editing screen later (much later, in my case).

You'll love it, I'm sure. I just got mine last week and haven't touched my D810 since! After the newness wears off I'll see if I want to jettison the Nikon stuff and go the "one camera, one lens" route.
By the way, what lens will you use with it?

I hope you enjoy using it - I really like mine. I've found it so much easier to use than all the other digital cameras I've had to use over the last couple of years, and found it really feels like the natural progression from my M6.

I'm quite fond of my Zeiss ZM lenses, especially the Biogon 35 f/2 and Planar 50 f/2, but also my CV Nokton 50 f/1.5, so those most frequently.
Also, like you, I plan to winnow down some things, certainly my Hexar AF and probably some Pentax 67 items.

That was a month and some ago. I presume it arrived on schedule and I hope you're enjoying it as much as I enjoy my M-D typ 262. Alex and company at PopFlash.com have always been great to do business with too.

Yes, it arrived and it's lovely. Unfortunately a sudden death in my family and my being appointed Administrator of the estate has occupied all my time. But I'll share some photos when I can.

My sympathies on both fronts, the loss and your appointment.
I have some background working for a company that often serves as a corporate executor. It’s often a thankless job. Sometimes.....worse....
