MFM,
I'm a ghetto man. LOL.
My gal went to Catholic school, so she yells at me all the time because I butcher the American language, but I tell her that it is inappropriate for her to correct me because I am a person of color, and it is my right and heritage to create new meanings, invent words, and create slang.
Know that in person I have a rather thick "Lawn-Guy-Land" accent. Kinda funny on an Asian. LOL.
Anyways improv is one of my great skills.

Cal, there are some abandoned factories down near the waterfront. Other than that, I don't know of any-I've been here in Alabama since 06/99.
MFM,
Over a decade ago there was this section near the Ben Franklyn Bridge, but now hipsters have already conquered the area.
I do know what you mean about Camden.

There is a one page shot of "Maggie" in the newest issue of French Vogue. This is not the Terry Richardson shot for Valentino eye wear, but is representing a brand called Mango. The brand is from Spain and was shot in Venice California.
According to Maggie the photographer used a big Leica that is bigger than my SL, so I presume a Leica "S."
Also found out that for Maggie's trip to China that her agent will be supplying a hair artist, a make-up artist, and a translator to be with her at all times. At this level Maggie has an entourage.
Crazier yet Sunday we went to a cosmetic store called Blue Mercury. Buying a bottle of her conditioner for her hair cost $50.00. Ouch.
Anyways crazy is good...

Mango? Wow! That's nice to hear. Big brand here of course and while not exclusive as they cater normal middle class quite visible. There is a one page shot of "Maggie" in the newest issue of French Vogue. I'll let you know if I begin seeing her around here
Well, cosmetic products of a certain class threshold do bite a bit. Not the weirdest one though, still 2 digit priced.
PD: Checked IG while writing and she has a short video "featurette" on Mango's Instagram. Of course, campaigns are global and It'll be seen. Also, she's at 99.7K and doubt It'll take more than a day to hit 100K.
PD PD: You are not going to China to Pick and deliver more Cantonese attitude? Essential part of the entourage.

Jorde,
I think the Chinese government has enough problems with Cantonese already. LOL.
Anyways seems like I'm doing pretty good with my branding, basically a lazy slacker who also is kinda clever and likes to annoy people. LOL.
Anyways every day it just gets crazier. Another gig came in yesterday, but because of fashion blackout I have to remain quiet. June is beginning to fill up, May is kinda full, and April is maxed out.
Because of all of Maggie's jet setting I am now inspired to do some wood shedding on guitar. I have all kinds of guitar projects ongoing. It seems the 18 inch archtop is gaining traction. Know that this guitar is kinda like I'm playing "patron of the arts" and a speculative bet, almost like being a venture capitolist with a start-up.
My friend Cris back in 2004 I witnessed being groomed by a very high-end vintage guitar dealer, and John Monteleon the predominent luthier alive today, so I kinda made a deal/bet when Cris was under the radar.
Today it is clear that Cris is the next "man." to take over that spot that John Monteleon maintains, and now John Monteleon is a rather old man. Not only does Cris work on and restore vintage treasures that are valued over six figures, but his own guitars that he builds are approaching six figures.
So I was wise to lock in a price way back when, and because it is a commission and the way it worked out my project is kinda important historically because it established a series of guitars before its creation that laid the foundation for a legacy that is now established.
Anyways "Jane" could be a $100K guitar and it could be completed in a year or two. How crazy is that?

It was 99.5K last night on her own account. Are you looking at the Mango likes?
I expect by the time she goes to China there will be more than a hundred K, but the next jump to 200K might be quick.
Realize that only in January 2016 she broke through 10K and that was a milestone.
Also know that most of her followers are between 25 and 35.

Fidel,
I snagged another great landscape-face shot in Spa-Ha. I think if the word gets out the right way I might be able to photograph all my neighbors. Anyways that is my fantasy. They kinda have an unused storefront as their crib.
Another ploy is visit this Tatoo Parlor because I met a guy, Starsky (his real name) and give him some prints. Anyways let's see if I'm a good salesman.
Newark Ironbound is a legendary rough neighborhood for sure.

I tried to get in with people from a certain neighborhood while my son was in grammer school there for 3 years. Good school considering how bad a hood it was. After the second year, I was the white guy with the camera, wasnt stared at or asked what I wanted or what I was doing there. This place has a whole different level of untrust for outsiders, no matter how close we got, conversations, kids, etc, that outer layer never drops, never. They were extremely cool with me, got somewhat personal, but no matter what, you will not get in. Even after years of friendly conversation, look the wrong way, no qualms in flipping and knocking you the fk out....
I stopped trying to make any attempt into photographing anything there. o well..

Fidel,
Back in the seventies I kinda had a death wish. I was a crazy guy. When I was a cab driver one guy I picked up in Madhattan said, "Take me to the Bronx," and I knew what would happen there. I started working my way to the FDR, because I did not appear nevous, and because I was ready to play gladiator for real, this un-nerved my passenger. He had me pull over, but it did not matter to me if I was going to fight over the $2.25 on the meter, or all my money, someone was going to die that night.
That rider gave me $3.00, so he even tipped me, and before he left he said, "I was going to rob you, but you seemed too cool."
Another time near Yonkers a fare tried to stiff me and got out of my cab in a hellish abandoned dark area. It was the kinda place that would be great to dump a body, but I too got out of the cab, and I yanked a pole out of the ground as a weapon and asked the man if he wanted to pay me or shall I give him a beating. Basically I mugged him. Almost gave him a beating anyways just for fun.
In the 1970's where we were preparing ourselves for Vietnam, and the way we lived with the idea of being a short timer, and all the drugs, basically the attitude is that we did not care if we lived or died.
In Costa Rica while getting on a bus someone bumped into me. I found myself holding a man's wrist who's hand was in my pocket clutching my wad of cash.
"?Porque su mono esta en mi bolsa? (Why is you hand in my pocket?)
"?Que estas haciendo? "(What are you doing?)
I made a fist. "?Qieras?" (Do you want this?)
Anyways I was only robbed once, but that was a break-in.
When I was younger big bouncers were kinda afraid of me. "I don't want any trouble," they said. Most people left me alone, but some made the mistake and payed for it.
Now that I'm getting older and I don't have that many decades left that 70's attitude surprisingly returns where I don't care. Like when I was very young I don't have a lot to loose.

Fidel,
Just down the block from my building on Third Avenue is a halfway house that use to be called The Parole Transition Institute. Because of my dog Beagle-Face all the residents engaged with me, and when I explained why my little cute dog had to wear a muzzle, and I explained the three strikes and your out law they kinda befriended me, but like you say bridges can't be built.
Anyways I am still delusional, but perhaps I might get lucky.
Joel Meyerwitz somehow got to document Ground Zero...

I think you have a better chance of getting "in" in NY rather than a Camden or Newark. Have always noticed that attitudes in NY are slightly calmer.

Bob,
"Maggie" has just under 100K followers.
The 105K you saw were the likes just on that video.
Funny thing is that the shots I take of Maggie regularly get 3-5K likes within 24 hours, and at times 6K likes.
Not that I'm Terry Richardson, but when Maggie posted one of his shots he only got 2.5K likes. This also seems to happen with other pro shots that were taken by real deal pro fashion photographers. It seems Maggie's followers like and favor my personal street style. Anyways this is a pattern and is regularly recorded.
So in today's crazy episode of "This Old Man" a cell phone rings at 6:15 AM and it is London calling about yet another big gig. There is a problem because Maggie is already booked. Oh-well. Perhaps they will reschedule...
Then the phone rings again, it is London calling again, but this time it is Maggie's agent's assistant.
Then the phone rings yet another time, and it is London yet again.
After all these calls it seems the discussion leads to how bipolar this industry is and how hard it is to be sustainable. Anyways I can see why that one super model I met only did it for a year and then retired before she hit 21.
Last night I got some time in on the guitar. Maggie had dinner with one of her crazy cousins. I took note of a new umbrella left to dry in the bath tub, and Maggie realized only this morning that she had stolen someone's umbrella at the restaurant last night by mistakenly grabbing the wrong umbrella.
The positive note is that it is a better umbrella than the one left behind. No foul I say. In NYC stuff happens, and it wasn't like my gal mugged someone for an umbrella. "Oh-well," I say.
