Not everyone is of the opinion that a mirrorless camera is worthless.

I for one am extremely excited by the idea of an affordable small sensor camera with killer high ISOs, weather sealing, high dynamic range, quick AF, small size and an awesome, affordable lens lineup. That's just me.

I had an e-3 and it was worthless for AF tracking - my 5d is muuuuch better. It can't be much worse than that :)
 
I am a ****** amateur and a lousy one to boot. For the moment all I need is in the OM-D body except the lenses, how I would love to use the four thirds 12-60 or 14-54 on this body.

I am a lot on the water but hate the waterproof compacts so this might be a solution for those moments when it's calm enough to get it out of the dayhatch. I really enjoyed the Oly E-30 with the 14 54.

Ah, I see what you mean.
That's true, we need to see comparison shots with a lot of details, but these are just a matter of time.

One thing is, I'm really happy with the improvement at 3200 ISO *including* the level of details. That to me is the benchmark since I am not an underground cavern expedition-photographer trying to shoot a picture of the elusive bat-ninja :D :D

Then consider this your first encounter with what (to me) makes Olympus unique.

When every other camera manufacturers follows a trend, Olympus bucked it.

It has been like that since long time past.

Well, all that, and the fact that this sensor is all of 11 seconds old. It is the newest greatest thing since sliced bread, until the next one of course. Olympus has indicated that they are not discontinuing the 4/3 E system (SLRs), so, while the E-M5 is the first camera with this sensor, likely there will be others, and the next E will have it, or the next generation of it, making the E-M5 yesterday's news when that time comes.
 
In body stabilization, and I liked the image quality, not the camera, when I had an E-P1. Oly image qualities with a better sensor and body, that is why I am going with the E-M5. Tough call though because Fuji is kicking but too.

The Oly is much less expensive too.

one thing to consider - while the fuji will certainly be nice with its larger sensor, it's also quite a bit larger. in pics i've seen the fuji looks similar in size to a smaller dslr. for me, that's a big differentiator, i already have a smaller dslr with relatively small primes so i'm leaning towards the om-d.

I also saw one last week on a Olympus booth in San Diego where they were presenting..... digital recorders. The rep had one on loan to try. It was a silver one this time.

BTW it is not "one Canadian" but a bunch of us in Vancouver :)

fuji looks to be about the same size as a m9

I thought I looked at the specs and they are quite close. I assume the height measurement was at the prism, so at the shoulders it is shorter.
 
I don't know why the 121 vs 139mm length didn't register with me. I had the height right, that is something.
 
The Fuji is larger, but it fits my hands much better than some of those tiny cams. Since none of these are pocket cams anyway, I wouldn't choose based on size

So I suspected, but only one Vancouverite had posted about it when I wrote that. Do you or any of your fellow Lotus Landers have any news about the camera?

BTW there's a bunch of us in Toronto too, but we haven't seen an E-M5 yet. :(
 
dpreview studio samples are up. Really impressive. I can't wait for this camera to come out, because my dad is in line for it. Can't wait to have a play.
