California (Bay Area, Northern) Beer and Gear.

I hope I get to see the new twin, Ray :)

Ray is dating twins, again! The dude's got skills.....

Roland, I'm bringing a video cam to document how easy it is to use the quick-loader on an M2. I'll bring the low light cam for when things start rolling underneath the table.

Looking forward to seeing folks,
Mike

It seems we have a first quorum (Ray, Carl, Randy, Mike and myself) for Tue evening, 10/27, somewhere on the peninsula.

Are others OK with this ? Also, how about location ? American Bull Bar & Grill (http://www.theamericanbull.com) was nice since it's fairly close to BART. Zeitgeist was mentioned above .... Any other suggestions, opinions, etc ?

Cheers,

Roland.

Awesome, American Bull is a such a great venue name for us to have a meetup. :) I heard they have designated "shooters" nights on Wednesdays and Thursdays. But not sure they permit cameras at all on Tuesdays (religious thing?).

That night (10/27) would probably work for me. I don't know the peninsula area much, I tend to mostly stay on the East Bay, so any suggestions are good. I'll definitely be coming by BART though, from Oakland (I live in Alameda, closest BART to me= Fruitvale).

I think they start with Karaoke at 9:30.

But again, please do propose other places, best with BART access. Cheers,

Roland.

The karaoke was not a problem last time. We were wrapping out of there as they were setting up. It's a good place, because we've met there several times now. They know us and know what to expect.

There's also 4th St. Bar and Grill in the City (4th Street at Mission). I think we've met there before too. It's mostly a sports bar, as is American Bull. Note: I have seen 4th St. B&G just packed during a major sporting events. And, because it's part of a hotel, I've also found it unexpectedly packed during international sporting events too (usually weekends, so probably less likely based on the time we're meeting). Lots of tables. Lots of beer. Separate sections/dining alcoves to take over. Food is about the same as American Bull (although, no Lumpia). Lots of pay parking nearby and good BART and PT access.

No night is a good night for karaoke. If sports bar includes the sport of camera+beer fetishism, it will probably work. Any chance of doing a Wed. or Thurs. instead, so as to accommodate Tues. nite knitting circle? Pull-eeze no life threatening neighborhoods or righteously anti-omnivore venues, or anyplace where an unmedicated person would feel out of place.

No to Zeitgeist

No to Zeitgeist

Ampguy says Zeitgeist is NOT photo friendly. Not a healthy place for a group of photographers. There's gotta be a photo friendly place near BART.

Here are a few bars in San Francisco that seem to be Bart friendly (no order of personal preference).

21st Amendment
http://www.21st-amendment.com/
Never been here before but I heard it's a big place with good beer.

Irish Bank
http://www.theirishbank.com/
I've hung out here before with a few of my photog friends and they have no problems with cameras. They have an outside patio with long tables we can hang out in. Pretty good fish & chips to boot if ya'll are hungry.

House of Shields
http://www.houseofshields.com/
Divey bar in the heart of Fidi.

Thirsty Bear

Gordon Biersh

Tempest Bar
431 Natoma St
San Francisco, CA 94103-2910
Anything goes in this bar, hell they even allow smoking as apparently it's grandfathered in or something. It's a dive but sometimes those are the best. Has tables to accommodate groups.

I could probably skip the karaoke too. Happy to be behind a camera shooting someone on stage. NOT so much for going up on stage myself.
And nobody really wants me singing anyway.

if I got it correctly we agreed on date 10/27
I still have a fleeing that we still debating the space
am I correct ?

Gordon Biersch sounds good provided we can get ourselves some tables in the bar. Isn't most of GB seating controlled, though?

Deleted my proposal due to an important member veto'ing it .... You guys go ahead with firming up the location, I'll ride along :)

Ummm, I thought we were all set to meet on Tues 10/27 at the American Bull on the upper peninsula. I'm definitely still up for that.
