Definitely the R3A (or R3M)
Definitely the R3A (or R3M)
I would pick the R3A or R3M over the R2 variants, primarily because of the 1.0 magnification of the R3's. It allows me to shoot with both eyes open.
I have an R4A, R3A and R3M. I mate the R4A with a CV 21mm and ZM 25mm. For 35mm and longer I like the R3A or R3M -- the 35mm angle of view and 40mm framelines on the R3's are close enough for me.

for those who have not read through the complete thread...i did buy the r3a, grey model.
but i have yet to try it out as i am in love with the zeiss ikon and 35/2.8 zm lens.
maybe i'll put the new 35 on the new r3a.

Congratulations. I hope you will like your R3a (as I do, except it being not very reliable in my case)!for those who have not read through the complete thread...i did buy the r3a, grey model.

However I don't think that 35 is the right choice for R3, for obvious reasons.

Kmerenkov: Thank you for your thoughtful reply to my post. Made things clearer. By the way, your English is very, very good. Having been an English professor who was, for a time, drafted into teaching this impossible language to students from other countries, I learned first hand how difficult it is to get it right.

I was exposed to English language since age of 6 or so probably as many other FSU newborns, still I was never studying it much intentionally (had no teachers in school). I was just chatting in internet being corrected by my friends for last 4 years. It helped a lot though I don't know many rules, I just "feel" the language (and still do many mistakes, you never master a language to the end).

Your portrait: "Maria, wrapped up in scarf" is very well done. Lovely face.
