Camera and Coffee

Only on RangeFinderForum.com could Leicas, Contaxes, Nikons, and Zorkis be collectively described as "real beauties." That's what I love about this place. Most RFF members have real interest in and appreciation of different camera marques. Needless to say, this is not true of some brand-specific camera forums out there. 🙂

I agree totally with oldprof on this.

I took the Canon 7 on the Giant Slide last year at this time. I also took the Nikon S3 out on the Giant slides and in the rain. Never bring a camera with a selenium meter out in the rain, you could electrocute yourself!

Absolutely. In fact, that's what drew me here. Over at photonet, they don't even have a "generic" rangefinder forum. It's either brand specific (and how many Canon EOS posts do you need to read through to find a single question on a QL 17?) or it's style specific - sports, people etc.

Actually, what I also wouldn't mind is a place like this for manual SLRs...

Cheers,
Steve

Only because I was quoting Gene and he was referring to specific pictures posted by Brian, I.mar, and Gordon. There were no Canons in these pictures. But the Canons are gorgeous too!

Uhhh-huh! But if it's raining, it's dark. If it's dark, the selenium cell can't produce the juice to flutter yer eyelids. But if the sun comes out right after the rain shower, uh-oh! 😀

"Heh, l.mar, i don't have a Leica but i've been in the Rocky M. Nat. Park!"

It's one of my favorite places, with or without a Leica!

Just be sure to bring a camera, any kind of camera.

The elk and deer were out in full force and quite fearless, to the point that they were walking up and down the streets of Estes Park. Wanting to travel light, I brought only my Bessa-T and a 75 mm lens. Shooting photos of an eight-point bull elk at about ten feet is quite . . . invigorating!😱

Joe's Canon P is Pretty. My Canon 7 with that Selenium meter was not built for looks! Same is true of the "bullseye" 7s and 7sz. But looking through that projected multi-frame finder is Nice!

Looking at the "Beater" Canon 7 and the "Beater" S2, it is pretty impressive that they take pictures after going through what they did.

And my "Waaahoooo" avatar is taken with the Canon 7 and Canon lens!

No Elk, but a lot of deer in the backyard. Funny thing is that they only run when they see that I have a camera. We have seen a 12-point buck after a heard of 10 Doe at one time. Every generation seems to gets a bit more tame.

Okay Joe, Here we Go! I borrowed Nina's Coffee cup just for you New Yorker's!

My Nice Canon 7 with the Nikkor 5cm f1.4.

Accurate Meter, but not going to get points in a Beauty Contest!

My Leica M3 DS with Summarit Lens. Original M3 Case and Coffee Cup in matching Beautiful Brown. The Coffee Cup is as older than the camera. This case was $10 on Ebay, fits the camera with Meter and lens with "Eyes". It is much heavier made than the usual case.

I have a Voigtlander! A Vitessa T, with accurate meter. This is a big camera, that case is from a Nikkorex. This is Voigtlander's answer to the Kodak Retina IIIS. It has the most difficult to Adjust Rangefinder that I have seen, but this one is accurate and I have not had to adjust it.

Demitasse anyone?

A Stretch, but this Tessina does have a Flip- up Optical Viewfinder.

Though that I was out of Coffee Cups!

My first Nikon RF. I overheard a camera salesman tell the gentleman that his camera was too old to trade for an Autofocus SLR. Years later I found out that this was a Nikon S4.

It looks al lot like one of these, a Nikon S2 Black Dial. Rule Number one of EBAY: Do not have your auctions end during the 4th quarter of the SuperBowl. Rule Number one of Ebay Sniping...

And my First 35mm Camera, a Minolta Hi-Matic 9. It took a Summer of Mowing Lawns to get this in 1969. Still works great, VF/RF is as clear as ever. THIS IS A VERY UNDERRATED CAMERA! Very Sharp 45mm F1.7 Lens and full Manual Over-ride with the meter remaining operational.
