I thought your comment was great! With an Avitar like mine I just had to be a smarty-pants!

Whilst waiting for my coffee to be ready to pour I introduce to you the latest addition to my family, a now fully functioning Zorki 4K with a shiny new hood (the hood arrived this morning).

Since getting this beastie (and with lots of advice from G'Man (Thank you my friend;)!!)) I have stripped her down to get the gears working again and given her a good clean.

I'm not sure as the original coat is almost mint. But as it's a FSU beastie and no way could it be called a stealth camera, this could be a candidate for that nice scarlet leather that I had to take off my QL17 :D LOL

TP ~ that's definately a keeper. The hood really looks at home. Good job. I wonder how many Zorki 4 & 4Ks greyhoundman is responsible for keeping alive? I think the number to be staggering!

Many more than he would like to remember I bet LOL

I've been thinking we should get some light alloy badges made with the profile of G'Man on like the old Lenin badges and set them into the leather of the Zorki as a tribute ;)

EDIT ... G'Man you beat me to the reply, can you remember how many lives you've save? And members sanity as well? :D

Nice jupiter + lens hood tony.

Here is my new Bessa R (this time around in silver). I had a black one for a week or so but there was a problem and the seller kindly gave me a refund. Now Im back to the R.

Here its shown with a Jupiter 3 and a vented lens hood (that I got here ), along side a cup of white tea. The hood is too small for a 50, but I like that its vented and its much better than nothing.

Obviously she doesn't read RFF. :)
Happily she doesn't LOL There again as she's in her 40's I keep telling her she's due for a trade in for a younger model that I can use in my photography ;)

einolu,
Nice set up! I have vented hood like that and have used it on a Jupiter 8, haven't tried it on the J3 I have. What kind is it? I may have the same problem. Hope not!!!

Thanks people.

Richard, Im not sure what you mean, but if you havent noticed any problems, than I would say its doing it job. I think the hood was ment to be used on something wider than 50mm, but it does prevent the extreme flaring I was getting while shooting in spain, so I am happy.

Beautiful shot of the Bessa. Nice lighting.

Tony, what if your wife's friends read RFF, or some RFF member has designs on your cameras? One Email, and that's all she wrote...

When I was young, my Dad would joke with my Mom "When you hit Fifty, I'll trade you in on two 25-year olds." When she turned Fifty, he said "What would I do with two Twenty-Five year olds!" I suppose you have to be at that half century point to really understand this. I certainly do.

that hood should work fine on a J3... I've got one that looks identical that I'm currently using on my Contax with the Sonnar 50/1.5 and have had no trouble at all

lt looks really sexy on that Bessa, btw!

Brian I'm safe as I never say anything about my wife that I don't say to her face and I know just what your father meant as the years roll on LOL

Happily she has a very good sense of humour, which she has needed looking after me through 2 burnouts / breakdowns ;) Besides no-one else would have me unless it was for a museum display :D

I had a nice cup of Whidbey Coffee's Organic Expresso with my grandfather's Leica IIIc this morning. Sort of a bon voyage cup of coffee. I will be packaging it up and sending the body off to Oleg for new shutter curtains and a CLA. The Summitar 50/2 will be going off to Sherry Krauter for a CLA. My grandfather gave this 1949 vintage camera to me in the early 1970s. I shot it until the shutter started giving me problems in 1976. It sat on a shelf from then until a couple of years ago when I took it down off the shelf and shot a test roll through it. The pictures were full of pinholes but shooting the little Leica was a revelation after shooting digital for several years. That started me down the road back to film and FEDs, and Jupiters, and Isolettes, and RFF, etc., etc. It's time (now that I have the money in hand) to move the Leica into the users column.

Gordon,
A small glass of Whidbey's Loganberry Liquor will be appriciated after a long week's labor too.
Oooops,, the rest of the world may not have accsess to such pleasures - te he.
Bless the northwest. ~ ; - )

Your Grandad's camera needs to me Fully-Operational!

It is a beauty, it must have been his pride and joy when he got it and it states something about how much he liked the person that he handed it down to.
