Camera and Coffee

Coffee? psh...I like rum. And the last one technically isn't an RF but I bought it here...

No photoshop on this comp, so excuse the digipix :)

Do you have the normal and the ltele for your tenax II as well?
No tele (not sure I'd use it much). I have three Tenaxes and all have the 40/2 Sonnar lenses. I should probably pursue a Tessar one of these days.

Honu-Hugger!

That's one badasssssss camera!!!

...got to love that it came with the correct finder, which has to be rarer than the lens...and the little leather pouch is neat as well.

...did Zeiss make a lenshood for this lens??? Nah, just teasing...lol :)

Have fun, Akalai

Got an M6 today

Got an M6 today

So I finally did it. I got this beatifull Leica M6 Classic Titanium, instead of the Bessa R I was decided to buy.
I cant wait to shoot my first roll. (I find that loading the film is very easy compared to my IIIb.)
It came with a nice Summicron-M 1:2/35mm E39 and a Canadian Leitz Hood.

Andy is guilty of having let me see his M7, actually the first M in my hands, this made me change on what camera I should Invest.
Now I must plan the rest of the lense kit.

Indulge me with a dumb question: Can I use LR44 batteries instead of the SR44?
The manual don´t mention them on the list.

Regards,

Pablo

Another RFF member falls for the Leica! :) Congratulations, Pablo; that looks like a very clean one. And I'm always encouraged by the presense of the original box, as that seems to say the owner cared a little more for the preservation of the gear.

Yours is a more modern version of the package I got 38 years ago, an M2 used with 35 Summicron. I use it still, and hope you'll enjoy yours as much!

Oh, on the batteries... SR44 is a silver cell that has good voltage stability over its life, while the LR44 is an alkaline battery whose voltage decreases over its life (so I'm told). For some cameras, this would make a difference, but other cameras have a kind of meter circuit that is not sensitive to voltage differences. I don't know which side your Leica belongs to... mine doesn't even have a battery!

Thanks a lot Joe, SR44 are more difficult to find here, but I can manage.

Pablo

Again thank you very much, but I can get a box here in chile, I was just curious abuot voltage differences or something wrong about using an LR44 on the M6, LR44 can be found on all photo Shops here.
You guys are just awsome.

Pablo

Hi Pablo

lets see... 'camera and coffee' ; nice cup, with my favourite plaid 'Royal Stewart', a nice camera in a box and some native art. I love this picture.

Leica... we all know that is the 'end game' for all the RFF members. It's a beauty. You'll only take better shots now. The lens sounds incredible. I love 35 mm lenses and that is such a fast one too. You are a lucky man.

have fun with it.

Jan

what a wonderful twist of fate! was it an impulse buy? I wouldnt consider the cameras to be in the same price range.

ahem....

Really??? :D I second that "ahem" and must be missing something...
BTW, it is a beautiful camera and congratulations on the purchase.

I have to make a third - both to the ahem and the beautiful camera comment. I'm not much of a Leica person, but that camera is very nice.

The ahem for me is driven by the information package I got from Linhof the other day. Oh, my, oh, my... The Master Technika is one glorious 4x5 rangefinder indeed! Even pricier than an ala-carte M7 though, alas... :( $8k with a 150/5.6, RF coupled and a hand grip. Makes me appreciate my battered and bruised Speed Graphic, let me tell you. Going to have to do a C&C of it soon.

Okay okay okay... my boss once told me 'the minute you are a nice guy you'll get scr_wed' what a tough crowd and sensitive too. joke (sounds like a Kleenex commercial) All I was doing was passing on a warm and fuzzy to Pablo. 'Cause I like his shots.

I'm just recapping what I feel is a 'sentiment here at RFF'. Having said all this .... I don't own any Leica products, not even a lens cap. I'm not promoting myself thru a camera by association.

So Joe, here goes just for you:

I think those Canon rangefinders are the real cameras used by the real photographers. They know'its the driver not the car'

have I smoothed things a bit? Hope so. (smile/ joke / humour)

cheers, Jan
