Camera and Coffee

You caught that too? 🙂 Ya think that could be mailed? Maybe hidden inside an RF body just to keep this on topic 🙂

New monthly photo project....
One photo. Three vices.

Having spent a good deal of time living in Eastern Europe (well, ideologically Eastern Europe at least), I can say with confidence that not everything that looks like a joint, is a joint...

Joe is weakening....

Joe, Feel the Power of the DARK SIDE.

Joe, the M2 for you. 35mm Framelines up all the time, and no clutter.

Can't wait for mine to come back! I am not putting the ex-Jdos2 Summi 50mm on anything else till it gets home!

Sorry to disappoint you, guys...
Drugs are out of the "sex & drugs & rock'n'roll" equation 😉

These days I prefer some chilled white wine. As for the smoke, it's "Samson", as seen in the photo below.

As for the "vices" monthly project, it could be VERY interesting.... 😀

Cute kiev. What's that lens??looks quite flat! Nice leather case, too.

Check out the "Camera show photos" thread for a longer explanation.
In short, it's a Jupiter 12 (35mm). It's flat on the outside, but goes quite deep inside 🙂
Its "flatness" is the reason I botched up several shots, including my finger in the shot 🙁
Otherwise, it's a nice lens - better than my Jupiter 12 in LTM mount. Nice contrast, sharpness, etc..
Otherwise I wouldn't bother getting it "up to specs".
It still mis-focuses a bit, but it's much better now that I've used some paper shims on the back element.
You may also check out the thread "Finally the right tools" for a photo of that lens with its scary back element exposed!

As for the case, I agree. I think it must be the Russian version of Luigi's case 😀
And it's also much cheaper....

Nice leather on that Kiev Denis ! Did you get it that way or did you apply new leather ? Also like the finder, classy indeed !

Finally could grab my buddy's digital yesterday night...

😀 looks like you had some fun last night, Taffer. I hope it wasn't just a cozy you-with-your-camera evening.

Denis: "I botched up several shots, including my finger in the shot" - time for a lens hood? 🙂
Indeed, the 35mm (jupiter12 and zeiss biogon? ) are flat only when on the camera😀

And for the 'camera and vice' thread 😀

Nice snap. You guys are giving me a complex. I don't have any exotic, elitist, interchageable lens rf's. I just have the funky Japanese stuff. However, I do take solace in knowing that some of these rigs are fast, light, and with superb optics. I juist can't seem to be bothered with changing lenses while ambulating though the streets.

Russ, with a background like the one on your picture above it is me who is experiencing envy just now 😀 Where did you take that shot ?

Pherdi, in fact it was my b'day dinner, almost one month after it's getting harder to gather friends ! That 'camera bug' from the other thread was one of the gifts in fact, strange sense of humour, hehehe...

Russ,
After fondling my Zorki 4K in Toledo (at Betty's), I figured that you'd be hooked. And with it's adjustable viewfinder diopter, even your failing eyes can focus one.
😀

That shot was made here locally at Multnomah Falls. I realize it's not the way-hip and trendy atmosphere and ambience of a Starbucks, but we make do, while enjoying out coffee. I apologize for the horrendous scan. Can you make out the three different model's of rangefinders in the snap? (Vivitar ES, GIII QL-17 & Oly RC) And the coffee mug is from "Moonstruck" chocolatiers. Very good custom chocoltates and Truffle's. Oh well, until I can find a Starbucks within walking distance, I suppose I'll just keep trying to enjoy my coffee with the din of the Waterfall behind me.....

Oscar, the leather on the camera is a DIY job. I got some fake leather cheap from a local shop (also have some blue one!!!), removed the old "skin", used it as a template, and got my Kiev a new "skin" in an hour or so. Not a big deal. However, the camera does look nicer now, and the "feel" when handling is also much nicer and softer....
It was my first (and the only, so far) custom covering job, and I think I might try some more soon, probably on another Russian RF. Fed might be a good candidate to cover in blue - or perhaps if I get some red leather. Hmmm, red would be nice 🙂
