Camera and Coffee

First Camera and Coffee post

First Camera and Coffee post

I thought I'd share some coffee. I also just added an avatar. The family was at Point Lobos State Park below Carmel for a picnic. My son was tired and layed down for a nap in this really neat rock formation. I was on a ledge above him shooting the water and looked down to this neat composition.

Another quick shot of the Alpa, this time with Helvetar and Rivella 🙂
Beside the XPan to show its size.

Hi all ! It´s my first post here. I have been following the discussions quietly for some time.

I have been using a rangefinder camera for less than a year now. Before that i have used a Pentax SLR for about 14 years. My main interests in photography are nature and macro. But i would very much like to learn how to photograph people ! I think i should start some kind of a project in that area... Perhaps start with people i know. Like friends at work.

My rangefinders are Olympus XA and the one in the coffee photo, Konica C35.

Welcome, Niko!
Nice C35 you got there - I only got the not-as-good-looking chrom version (one of my first rangefinders...)

Welcome Niko. As you no doubt now know, Konica's glass was some of the best in the world. That was better recognized in the far east than in the US, but even there wasn't universally accepted. Looks like you have a nice model. Looking forward to seeing some of your pics.

Niko, welcome. Nice pic. I wonder if this Konica is about the size of Oly35RC?

Hi Niko, welcome to RFF! I too have been a Pentax guy for a long time, but I also had a Leica early on, and an Olympus 35RC, then a Minolta CLE... So the RF infection had caught hold!

As to your project, sounds like a good idea. A few years ago when I was entering all my old photo records on the computer, I had opportunity to refer to neg pages and contact sheets for data. It became clear to me that my most interesting pictures of the past were people-related. I set out to overcome my natural shyness about sticking my camera in people's faces, in the same way you suggest. I picked "victims" who already knew who I am... those people I encounter periodically in the course of business, mine and theirs. It's been a "people doing their jobs" project, and you can see some results in my RFF Gallery.

black Dell, true, Sharp-Eyed Oscar!
Unfortunately, none of the pictured cameras can focus close enough to take the pic with the coffee mug.
The rollei seems to be in great working order, just loaded it with NPH and will tst it in these days thoroughly. Slow speeds a bit too slow, though, but consistently (after about 100 "dry-clicks")

ADDED: There's one place left empty in that circle. I'm missing that bloody contax, i really do.

Instant Camera and Coffee

Instant Camera and Coffee

Bill M sent me a very nice scan of a Nikon SP/Nikon F ad. Well, if you can have Camera and "just-add-water" Instant coffee, why not Just-Add-Water Instant Camera and Coffee?

Pour a little hot water on the AD, and POOF! Nikon F w 5cm F2 Nikkor-S and Nikon SP w 5cm F1.4.

Alright! Enough is enough. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but it seems that as of late, I've been drinking much more than usual. It all seemed to coincide with the start of this thread. So let it die, so that I can get back to the much healthier drink of my choice.

I used Guinness for the Black SP. As my wife describes it, "tastes like the beer that people put their cigarrettes out in". I can buy it, and have it all to myself.
