Camera and Coffee

Nice Rollei!! My Grandfather had one of those. My uncle has it now and I'm trying to talk him out of it. It's just sitting on a shelf at his place. I'll actually use it, dammit!! :D

I now have two pocket cameras. I've moved the Agfa Isolette II (2 1/4 square) into the user column thanks to Solinar. I was having shutter problems and he kindly sent me an extra Prontor-SV he had and cleaned it too! The shutter works fine and the Isollete is back together and loaded with Tri-X. I used gaffer's tape to seal up the bellows. There will be a new bellows eventually.

The coffee is organic espresso roasted right here on Whidbey Island. Yum!

Good things attract good things

Good things attract good things

Hi all,

so again weekend, and a (nice) duty again.
I thought to show an evidence, on how a good thing attracts another wonder.
Which is which - i don't know...

Cheers,

nemjo

Yep, it's always good to get your beans roasted fresh.

The downside of using a couple of compact shooters is you'll get a skeptical glance sometimes from some who brought their RB7 and a F3a with a motor wind.

The good news is the folder sometimes causes folks to move away when you:

Open the platform and install the lens hood.
Wind the film carefully.
Measure the telemetry with the rangefinder.
Set the focus ring.
Arm the shutter.
Compose and fire.

I look forward to a posting or two in the Classic Camera Forum.

Solinar,
I don't know if it me or my cameras, but when I use the Isolette or Fuji Folders I get more attention than when I use the Rolleis or other cameras I own. I admit I look like a the grandfather I am, so the camera matches most folks image of me. Young kids will come up and talk about that cool "old" camera, does it still work, like asking me if I can still walk. Young whipper snapper!!!

Richard, you are right, it is the young kids that come up and ask questions. It is Mr. Nikon or Mr. Canon that usually steps away.

You people are so bad! Of course, "all lenses should be used with a lens shade." So I just had to go out and find one for the lens that started me out on this whole rangefinder thing --- the circa. 1931 "0" serial number nickel 50 mm Elmar from my grandfather. Why are Leitz/Leica accessories so expensive? On the other hand, the lens shade does appear to improve the performance of the 70-plus year old lens (see pic). And just to show the conciliatory nature of this posting, I've included my beloved old Zeiss Ikonta "C" folder --- why can't we all be friends?

Summers here and the garden looks great with the Bessa R and a cup-o-java :D
