Camera and Coffee

Thanks for the links doug. Yeah, I've been knockin' that around, the spooling-your-own idea. Maybe one of these days, but it sounds like alot of work to me. Especially when I've got others with film ready to go. :) I found the CentralCamera site last night, but have to stretch a little to justify $17 film for a camera I gave $13 for. ha! But I might splurge sometime if the curiosity gets to me.

Til then, I'll just add it to the trophy case and enjoy the bag --- which was the reason for buying the whole kit to start with. Though a little on the "well broke in" side, it's clean inside and just the right size for a day out.

Yes that's awfully steep for film, but what price fun? :) I ended up paying $10 per roll for Portra 160 on 620 spools, and it's been fun to try in this ancient Kodak folder I found... Enjoy!

Sorry to be the one to break this to you, D2, but your B2 has its red dot in the wrong place.

What a little treasure! Tell me that won't fit right in your pocket. (Okay, I know, it's heavy enough to pull your pants down, but hey -- wear suspenders!) And your red dot is as good as any of 'em!!

Are you suggesting I walk around town this Fourth of July weekend with a lump in my pants? :)

I'm going to have to do something -- I discovered yesterday it doesn't have any strap lugs. The little Bolsey was a ten dollar gamble; I'll run some film through it and see if it actually works (it's simple and seems to check out). It's a Jacques Bolsky designed camera (Bolex movie cameras); he also designed the first generation Alpa cameras...what the hell, I've wasted ten bucks on less before.

Have a good weekend all!!!

This is my new 0.85 mag M7 that arrived on Wednesday. It came from Australia, was originally purchased in Hong Kong and has had 3 rolls of film through it. This is the body I wanted and I've waited patiently (several months) for it. I missed a very similar opportunity a week before I bought this one due to a family commitment. So this morning I gave it a nice new Domke Gripper, put my Elmar-M on the front and now I'm going out to test the shutter speeds. :)

defiinitely not a RF...

defiinitely not a RF...

Hi all,

this is really not a RF but my first camera from the sixties.

Have a nice weekend.

Cheers,

nemjo

Nemjo, dunno about the quality of that soviet TLR (i can't even decipher its name), but the espresso certainly looks great:)

Hi Pherdinand,
this is a Lubitel 2. If I say, it's very basic, I think it's described.
But in it's time, it was great for learn the basics.
Nowadays the main limitation to me is the 6x6 - I can't enlarge nor scan...

Cheers,

Why not? The epson flatbeds seem to do a good job with 6x6 transparent material - if you can afford them of course - and, old Meopta Opemus enlargers should be around...

Right. But I have a Minolta DS III...
I choose it 'cause it perfectly fits my needs, as my fav cams are the Hexars.

To buy a scanner wasn't a real dilemma for me.
However during my movings I've lost a lot of negs,
even the rest took me monthes to scan.
I found it the only way to archive them as my darkroom turn to be
a laptop and printer.

Very handsome Peter. I want to hear all about it, how does the AE work? Wow.
Its a little weird to have a really new camera Ralph. The lens is pretty tight in the bayonet mount - apparently the only other lens that was put on this sample was a Noctilux for a couple of weeks.

Everything seems to work, but I need to get the test film back to make sure. The cassette is a little tight in the camera because of the DX contacts but other than that the camera is almost identical to the M6TTL. There is that Auto choice on the shutter wheel though... Without seeing the film results, the electronic shutter seems to be working - as you close the lens down stop by stop you can see the shutter speed drop by a stop each time. The shutter speed in the VF is stepless so you see odd speeds like 1/40th. Personally I really like the shutter speed in the VF.

Shutter noise (very important for me) is about the same as my M6TTL, maybe a smidgin quieter. I love the 0.85 mag and tried it with my 90 TE and 135 J-11. I decided to get another 135 (the J-11 is optically wonderful but mechanically not completely perfect) so I bought a 135 Tele-Elmar at a terrific price yesterday and I'm real excited about it. That is essentially an APO lens and I can't wait to try it on this M7. GAS has really hit, huh? This forum is bad!
