Hi Trius and Greyhound
Ice wines I love 'em. Especially with a tasty smoke and peace and quiet. Just a quiet corner, me, my quality beverage, a smoke and no one around me while I indulge in all sorts of bad / expensive habits without any comments. Oh yeah baby!
I'm stopping now, I felt like I was writing some kind of pornography! Help me...
Naaahh 'I don't want no' help..
I'm going back to cameras and film. It costs less....
cheers, Jan

I like sweet wines like Marsala, but I'm saving for a bottle of Chateau d'Yquem. I'll have enough in 2018 if prices don't increase. joke

Waiting on Maitani
Jan: I'll be indulging next week. We're going camping near Picton, and I'll take some good stogies, good wine, and some single malt. Oh, and my 35SP and the Konica C35 to compare results between the two. IF I can hold the cameras steady enough!

Chateau d'Yquem? YOU'RE KILLING ME!!! :bang:

Jan: It might pay you to investigate the Harvest Estates (St. Catharines) '99 Riesling icewine. Wow, the most elegant I've had. Haven't had any Royal di Maria, yet. Not sure I want to, could be a very expensive proposition.

Is that why I can't remember anything from my Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill college days?

Greyhound, you are right about the price/quality equation on the Sauternes, but I won’t be drinking any big ticket wine like that until all the kids are out and they are also off ‘life support’.
Next weekend, I’m going to Wilmington NY to fish the Ausable River. I’ve got a package I’ve got to send to Greyhoundman when I arrive in the USA. For favours rendered.
Trius, I think you are single handedly keeping Ontario in the financial black. I’ll check the Icewine you listed.
I assume you have been to Sandbanks Provincial Park. If you haven’t it is worthwhile. If you are around Picton take the Glenora Ferry to Kingston. Pretty and old Ontario town. Farmers market Saturday and antiques Sunday. Black Dog Café is good as are lots of other restaurants there.
Picton has a Jazz thing happening this weekend, go to www.thecounty.ca for a listing of events during the summer. Later in early October is the fall ‘Taste’ event at the Palace with lots of food wine and music.

The Canonator looks great. Glad to see it got the face lift it deserved.

OK, I finally made a few pics of my refurbished M3 with light gray lizard from cameraleather.com.
It was easier than I thought to replace the existing vulcanite. Just take your time and ensure you remove all the old adhesive.
Sorry about the quality of the images, just can't seem to work these newfangled digital thingies.

And interesting look! The light leather seems to match the chrome in tone...

G'Man, the Canonator looks truly impressive. It reminds me a bit of the Minolta CLE on Steroids. Arnold would love to have one.
Yankeedoll, you know this could be a source of income...
Skinny, welcome to the M3 club.

Skinny,
Thanks for posting the III with the M. This is the first time I saw a side by side comparison of the two. I didn't realize how much smaller the III looks.

The IIIa is such a small package, especially with a collapsible lense that's everything else looks huge by comparison. I was trying to make that point the other day by showing a 350D/XT with a IIIa, but most people missed it.

Hey Skinny
I love this thread and what it shows. I always like to see what is out there in the equipment world but most I like to see the coffee cups.
Backalley showed a truly great espresso cup a while back and I also like your espresso cup.
Funky cameras, I love 'em especially when they are used for photography.

Striving
Julie and I went for a Sunday morning wander up to Mt Stromlo, on the outskirts of Canberra. The Mt Stromlo Observatory was destroyed by the bushfires in January 2003, that also wiped out 400 homes in Canberra. The university that operates the observatory is still (naturally) arguing with their insurance company over the $60m it will cost to replace the facilities and equipment. The ruins makes interesting photos though, and the coffee shop survived.
Flat white and latte, with carrot cake and lemon & apple cake. Yum.
Canon IV-Sb (with newly-cleaned viewfinder) and Canon VT. Yum.
I let Julie loose with the digi slr - she has a good eye!

Interesting shots of an interesting place, Chris! I recognize the Vt on the left, recalling the time I borrowed one years ago.

A few days ago managed to put my hands on this M2.
Of course I planned to take a C&C pic to share here, but found quite difficult to do...
This morning I got this small bottle of wildplum pálinka. (If you don't know what pálinka is, you miss a lot...)
I hope you agree, they are well matched...
