Camera and Coffee

When I bought a Digilux 2 earlier this year, I swore it was the end of film and scanning for me. Instead, it turned out to be the beginning of Leica GAS. I put this kit together for under $500, just to see what the rangefinder fuss was all about. Now I am wanting to step up to M glass. My bank account will never be the same.

These are the newest members of my family :)
I hope "Yerba Mate and Camera" does qualify for this thread...

- Bessa-R from anglophone1 (thanks Clive, it was a pleasure to deal with you)
- Canon 1.8/50 with Series VI hood from pnet member Gary Williams (thank you for the hint, aizan)
- Yerba Mate and accessories from the online dealer of my trust ;)

Cheers

I like it best currently. I also tried Amanda, Cruz de Malta and Rosamonte Especiale. The Pajarito is to my mind not as strong as the Rosamonte. So I take the Rosamonte for starting the day and the Pajarito for work. Cruz the Malta is more on the softer side, ideal for the weekend :) I am not really sure about the Amanda, yet because I just opened the bag for a first run.
Taragui I did not try so far. I just read in a forum that the quality is decreasing compared to the past.
If you are interested, I get my stuff from this shop:

The coffe in Prague...

The coffe in Prague...

is not among the best things, so missed. But the beer...
The "grand slalom" means in Prague to come down from upper Liben on the main street visiting all the pubs.
We made it uphill...
Really challenging...

Zorki 10 and coffee

Zorki 10 and coffee

Had my KMZ Zorki 10 out and picked up a Hammerhead (16 oz. coffee with an espresso shot) before heading home. 45mm f2.8 lens with full auto exposure using a selenium meter (no batteries), but with a coupled rangefinder.

Bizarre- I got my first rangefinder a month ago, and we started drinking yerba mate 2 months ago-found this forum 2 weeks ago. It must be fate.

I didn't realize the Zorki 10 had a rangefinder! Does it take good pics? To my knowledge, you're the only one around here that has one.

Yeah, the Zorki 10 has a coupled rangefinder. The Zorki 11 is scale focus but otherwise the same.

The lens has terrific potential and the auto expsosure system on mine is right on, which I find surprising considering that it uses a selenium meter. Unfortunately this camera suffers from the mushiest release mechanism ever, I think.

When you depress the shutter lever it is a VERY long throw. The meter is active until you start pressing down the lever, then wherever the needle is it becomes "captured" at that position. Then when the release actually engages the shutter speed and aperture are set to wherever the needle is captured at. IOW, a lot happens when that lever is depressed.

Needless to say, camera shake is a real issue with this beast. However, it is capable. I shot a roll at an abandoned trailer park and posted pics on my site. The current featured photo is from there. I haven't uploaded anything to the gallery here yet.

That's a gorgeous set, Gman! I recently swore off (to my wife) more purchases, though I fell off the wagon with a Tower 51 that is on its way. It was only $21 incl shipping ... hope I'm still married once it arrives.

It's too late here for coffee; please forgive my other vice :). The camera is a Contax II with a 180mm f/6.3 Zeiss Tessar and 436/11 finder (correct for this lens). The olives are anchovy stuffed: I choke down the martini as an excuse to eat the olives...

I already have a couple of perfect Yashica Electro 35 GSN's, but I couldn't resist the "imperfection"of this one...

lynn, that's hilarious:) Is that a photoshop trick, a "repair" mistake or that's how it comes from the factory? You might have something unique there...
I hope nothing else is upside down, though:)
