Camera and Coffee

Gene, this anthropomorphism will give the "cameras as tools" people a coronary ;).

My cars have names ;).

My M6 with Pre-Asph 35 Summilux, and a nice Cafe Latte.

This shot was taken approximately 30 seconds after loading my first roll of Tri-X into this beauty, and 30 seconds before my first photograph taken with it.

That is dedication to the C&C thread - I saved shooting with it until this portrait was taken!

This is a sight I think I'll be seeing a lot of.....

Uh, Gene, when did I miss the arrival of the IIIf? No wonder you're out of GAS money! Naturally I'll get to pet and stroke both on Saturday...

Nice kit there Robin! :)

Thanks, Peter! Yeah - that was a nice coffee....Oh, wait - the camera! It has a few scars (=stories), but if anything that just gives me more confidence in taking it out and using it. Perhaps too much. I got it out of my bag at the weekend to find a huge dent in the hood. Some serious work with pliers was required. I have no idea how it happened, other than I was coming home faily drunk the night before!

I know there has been a Leica body OR Leica lens thread on RFF before. I am in the former camp. I'm more than happy to put my CV lenses on this thing, but I would feel less good about the Summilux on a R2 or similar.

It just feels...solid...yet somehow malleable, physically forgiving. Something so robust rarely feels this right in one's hands.

Robin I gave a 28mm lens hood a right bang on a subway train door a couple of weeks ago. What can you do? That's what happens when you use stuff.

Fred that's a nice little number there! :D 0.72 mag?

It's a .72 well spotted, taken through a .72 VF of a very good freinds M using one of those things full of pixels n batteries n stuff.

Lots Of Cameras; only a little bit of coffee

From the recent Toronto RFF meet today - great turnout and it would be nice to see if we can do this again soon :D

Cheers

What, did they make you surrender your cameras before letting you in the bar?
;)

hehe.. nope.. this was just where we remained until we went to the pub. It was such a nice day and we all sat around talking /meeting/ chatting about RFF and the various cameras.

We attracted a lot of onlookers - some queried about the cameras and I saw some others drool over them too ;)

Dave, great idea and great coffee/camera shot too. Wish I had more time to hang, maybe next time. Good to meet you even if it was short.

Jan

BTW ; J.Ed nice group shot! Say hi to Trius when he gets back.

Got the Yashica Lynx the other day. I came from Chris in Australia, via Gman :)

Ok this that a camera and coffee shot or what, now which Leica is which, they are all good and aside from the M4-P they all look the same from a distance:) I had a great time and we have to do this again soon.

Bill

Is this treading too close to the dark side (SLR's)? :D
The lens is a 1938 Carl Zeiss Jena 180mm f/2.8 Sonnar with the Flektoskop mounted to a Contax II from approximately the same period. The Zeiss magazines from 1938 and 1939 were a very pleasant surprise; most graciously sent along with a few other goodies from a fellow RFF member -- thank you!!!
