Camera and Coffee

have you seen my latest?

the ever present p and it's new partner, the 50/1.5 along with the 35/2.8 and the 85/2, for company.

The Canon P is such an elegent camera...why can't anyone other than Leica and Zeiss (and maybe a few other oddities and anachronisms) design something so pleasant to use as well as look at these days?

Beautiful set Joe. Easy to see why you would be "at one..." :D. I feel pretty much the same -- I'm not ghosting around eBay nearly as much as I use to. My next "Waiting for the mail" will be for the espresso maker...

Thanks, D2. I'm carrying it w me everyday, so far it's next to impossible to steal it from me.

Is there any lens made for the contax' that you still don't own?
if yes, you should say things like the above, it's only a matter of time when you click on that submit button:D
that tessar, i'm sure there's at least ONE person here whos eyes get wet when looking at it :D [nope, not me!]
the topogon looks interesting, though...rf coupled i guess?
and the biotar, a normal using the outer bayonet?hmmm...

Pherdi,
I'd like to find a 75/1.5 Biotar. The Topogon is not coupled; I did get my first roll back and it looks promising -- I need to spend a little time scanning now. As for the outer bayonet mount of the 4.25 Biotar: I believe the inner mount only interfaces correctly with 50mm lenses. I hope to take this lens out today for some shots -- I'm curious to see the results.

I finally got my digital camera out and snapped a shot of my new M2. Being primarily a 35/50 man, this camera is as close to perfection as I have ever used. Can someone explain to me why I waited 25 years to purchase one?

Yes. This way you could post an M2 as 2500th post in this thread...

Cheers and congrats,

A friend had took is DC for coffee today, and I finally have something to post on this tread.

My little M2, the Switar and the adapter.

Cheers

Will,

please give a bit more info. The Switar is a reflex lens, right? a 50 mm? Who made the adapter? Is it rangefinder coupled? If not, how do you use it on the Leica?

Wim

edit: Oh, OK I didn't read your signature. Still: Is it rangefinder coupled?

Wim,

Is a Japanese made adapter brought at a retail shop in Hong Kong. It's rangefinder coupled.

I can't find the phone number from HK's yellowpages website, but the name is call "General Camera".

Cheers

This ain't no Leica

This ain't no Leica

Sunday morning coffee with one of these huge Fuji interchangeable lens rangefinders. Coffe is arabica from Indonesia and the camera is easy to handle and operate. The one on the picture has the f:3.5 100mm EBC auto lens with electronic shutter and auto exposure. If you can bear the weight (more than 4 pounds/2kg), this make a great shooter for street scenes, very fast to operate. And those 6x9 Tri-X negs are gorgeous...

You have to ready yourself for a Leica. Sometimes it takes many years. :)

A bit like BMW motorbikes. I read once that the average BMW owner had owned nine other motorcycles before purchasing his (that's a non-gender specific "his") first BMW.

Occaisionally I catch on quickly. With cameras it took a long time and many cameras to get to the Leica stage, with motorcycles, I have only owned 2 before getting to BMW. :)
