Personally not a fan of those colors. I was on Capitol Hill in the late 90s, shot film. Pretty sure my editors at the AP would have throttled me if I brought film back to them that looked like that.

I understand it is not a taste for averybody, specially if seen in the news. But sometimes it is nice to look at serious subjects form a different perspective or in a more relaxed way.

These colours are so unreal that become fun. Of course not in an official group photo I think!

Access is the most important thing for this kind of shooting.

In other words your photos looked like everyone else's, which is fine for the purpose of illustrating a one-and-done news story.

I appreciate seeing something new and fresh and not at all like "everything else."

There's room for both, and the above is not meant to disparage the news media, but let's be honest, you could just about interchange 99% of photographs made for the AP.

One can also tell a story using different mediums and tools to accentuate certain things. I can think of some allegory related to the "otherwordly" colors shown here.

Sorry I just personally don’t think those photos are that great, and I don’t think those colour casts add anything beneficial to the images. Just my opinion.

And I personally disagree with your assessment of AP photos, though you’re certainly entitled to your opinion, but I’ll just leave it at that.
