I think the price isn´t that bad if you see the S/N, but anyway, anyone (even I) can buy an M4 in pretty good shape for a lot less...
One way or another, today it´s a collector´s item. The seller thinks it´s only intended for display as a rare item which in fact is.
Definitely, the asking price is for collectors, not for many of Us, the bargain hunters like me.

I am both a bargain hunter and a collector. That is why I am interested in Chinese and Russian gears.
I caught some rare lenses recently. The one with 1/50 on the front ring is a 'e' line reduction lens similar to Nikon ultra micro lenses. I am not sure about the application of that Seagull 120/4. That is a big and heavy lens.

They are very rare and very hard to find. Sometimes they show up at Chinese camera auctions. I only saw it once at an auction.

Collector Youfang posted an image of Haiou lenses, and there is this rare 120/4.
It is a similar lens to Nikon UMN line products. It must be a very expensive industrial lens.Cheers.

I read what was written ... our friend Ernesto and like you, Master Zhang, I am a collector + user, without any wall between the two passions.
I like to test and work with great care, old cameras. It's a real pleasure to wake up gently.
My RF is, of course, with those and with still a lot of emotions.
Those that I do not try, are those for which films are hard to find, those old age has weakened, those with whom I photographed a lot when I was younger and I know too well, and also the "mint" unused.
For me, the RF is really not a Hermes Leica into its box, but a great camera, made to work.
It is only sad that it is so rare ...

That sale was pure investment speculation. Just because something is rare, doesn't mean it's valuable. You have to have at least two that want it (demand). I have a lot of rare lenses that are just as uncommon, but there is little demand so they don't have much value. Paying that kind of money for a basic piece of metal and glass is crazy. Unless you are so rich it's not much money. But I wouldn't want to be the collector with of room full of these that decides he needs to sell them one day. He may discover the bubble phenomena.

Yes, I just sold a Soviet FED 50/2.0 for a couple hundred dollars. Now I could buy a real Leica Summar, for about the same price. I had an Angenieux 25/0.95 I used on my m4/3 that was pretty exotic for a few hundred more. What I'm saying is paying 10,000 dollars for a camera kit is the same as paying 10,000 for a rare baseball card. You are hoping it will increase in value as other people decide they must have it. I'd go for the Zeiss or Cooke at 1/10th the price.

Chinese people become more affluent, and there are enough people who have both money and appreciation of their own historical artifacts. Same happens in Russia, prices for less common equipment are steadily climbing.

Thanks! That is what my friends in Russia told me too. Rare vintage soviet era cameras and watches are demanding high prices now as is vintage Chinese items. When the current economy crisis is over, we will see even higher prices for these items.

Here is a super rare Chinese lens made in Fujian province in 1977.
It is a 80mm F1.0 lens! If you think it is a copy of something, show me its Japanese, German, or Russian original, and tell me its applicaion. :bang:
It weighs more than 3 kilograms, focus from 5 meters to infinate, and closes dowm from F1.0 to F16. It is very well built and finished as a high end lens. There is a Nikon 85mm F1.0 reproduction lens, but that lens is much smaller and lighter without a focusing ability.
I never saw it before, neither could I find any information about it. Its s/n of 77202 indicates more than 200 lenses made in that year, but I doubt it. Maybe only 1-2 pieces were made? It could have the same application as that of the Nikon one as it has a short focul plane. It is not a normal photographic lens.
