This is somehow, very true...

No, named after Mei Li Mountain in China.

Found the post in xitek.com

That is the very reason why Pinyin can not replace the Chinese characters.

Thanks for the information.

I guess the rarest item in my collection might be that cine zoom 35SJ F25-80 1:2.5 with a s/n of 72001. It might be the only example in the world.:D

Phototype lens, Zhang?

Oh well, the problem is that we have a very complex set of characters.

So sleep now, I will catch you tomorrow..

Zhang posted a photo of this camera some months ago, I have a twin together with the original invoice.

Zhang,

Think I will try super-wide (~25mm), on 135 format, see if I like it; then move to 612/617

Really need to get out more, those are for great landscape picture.

Will,

I think the date should be June 1960. Then the price should be RMB 260. This camera was originally sold for about RMB 200. In 1960 the government rose the prices of luxury goods such as watches and cameras. BTW, RMB 200 could buy 2 ounces of 24K gold in late 1950's:D
This Shanghai 58-2 is the 3rd version with 4 screws on the accessary shoe, and with a diopter adjustment lever. I think about 20,000 3rd version 58-2s were made.
Shanghai 58-2 cameras were made until about 1963 with a total number of over 70,000 cameras.

2 ounces = ~ 1268.4 USD (Dec Futures in CMX)

Just think what you can get now? :bang: :bang: :bang:

Zhang, ever toy with 612, 617?
