I have and use different kinds of rangefinders. I have a canonIII, a IIs2, a VI-T, 3 P's(early, middle, and late) and a 7. Somehow a Bessa R found its way into the tribe. So here goes, I enjoy them all ,the P is what "feels" right and that's my go to camera. Yet I yearn for a Leica so which one is most like what I use? I know that owning lots-o-leicas is beyond my resource's. Any one other than Mike 'you shoulda bought a Leica in the first place' Johnson, please submit suggestions. Thanks Red😱

You are doing fine with the Canons, especially the P.
The bottom loader Leicas are not that different than the bottom loader Canons in quality or performance, so by Leica you mean an M Leica I would suppose.

The P and the Canon 7 are as nice to use as any M Leica I own, just my 2 cents.

No , I don't want to move past the LSM , I've often read of others that perfer the copies. Sometimes I just wonder. Whats a Real one like that's all. Red

In my view the Canon P is the most user friendly classic rangefinder there is. I've tried a M Leica or two but in the end I always find out I don't use them as much as I should and sell them.

Thanks for the input people. I'll gonna wait a few days to fork out my cash . The camera I'm looking at is working ,but it seems small, well built, but dirty. It's got a collapsible lens a 5cm f=1:3,5 as iI recall. fellow wants $300. Guess I'll have to add a good CLA to that.

The parallel of a Canon P in the Leica world would be a Leica M2.

If you like the handling of the Canon P, the bottom loading Leica's are far from it. They are closer to the Canon III.

Hey, I do love my IIIf, but t it's a very different experience than what I had when I owned a Canon 7 - and your P's are much closer to the 7 than the Leica. My IIIf is basically the same as your Canon III so you don't need that really.

Leica's are nice cameras, no doubt. But so is every one of those Canons. I've owned both and while I love my IIIf, I could trade for, say, a Canon P without any real pause. Screw on my Summitar and it's just another well made & decent handling light tight box.

If you really need to scratch the itch, buy a M2. Otherwise, use the really great cameras you already have.

Thanks all, just saved me $300. bucks. Guess I really don't need to have one as has been said the Canons are all nice cameras and I like them a lot.
