I just bought a Steinheil Munchen Culminar f2.8 85mm lens (LTM). I liked the results I got from one of these lenses that I borrowed recently. I'm not having much luck finding any info. about them. Anyone ever use one?

I have one. It's quite a nice lens. I wasn't able to find much info either. The one I got was made after the war ... says "Made in Germany U.S. Zone".

There's a small bit of info on Cameraquest and if you search google for the Exacta mount versions you can find a bit more (the 85, at least, was optically the same across mounts). I'm struggling to find info on the 35/4.5 they made in LTM. I know where one is at a semi-sane price and I keep getting bad ... "urges"... 😀

Everything I have seen about the 85/2.8 is that it's an highly underrated screamer. If you have a good one, you are a lucky individual. Enjoy it!

The information listed above is about all I have found on the 85mm Culminar. I have two, one in Exacta mount and one in LTM and I am very impressed with them. If you look at my gallery, the biplane and nosewheel lights were taken with the Exacta mount lens and the tulips were taken with the LTM lens on my Leica IIIf. I feel they are a great value if you need an 85.

Good to know that the LTM lenses are optially simular to the Exactas as there is a some info re. those lenses. Maybe the lack of information is the reason they sell for so little.
